"Those who are booing Brisebois are the English fans" -- A bunch of Habs fans

I'm not sure what you guys make of this...

Look at this article:

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chronique...N3F765561.html

It's about Bob Gainey attacking the fans booing Brisebois. If you look at the "talkbacks" thingy after the article a few of them are saying that English-speaking fans are the only ones who boo Brisebois.

Use babelfish.altavista.com to translate, it's not too reliable when people write using 100 spelling mistakes per paragraph but it's still enough to understand more or less what they're saying...

Here are three funny examples in the bunch:

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/talkbacks...6932-FD22.html

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/talkbacks...D138-508A.html

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/talkbacks...F749-2BE7.html

All I can say is this:

I don't care if it's anglos or not that booed, but I don't think it was their fault, it's stupid to put some kind of tag on a group of people.

What I know about the matter, is that there's about a hundred of losers that were always booing Brisebois, and that might very well be getting to an end. Whoever they are, the booers shouldn't be allowed to go to the Bell Center.

What is this? Are you showing us your ignorance yet again? About 90% of the fans must stand behind Gainey's comments and approve of it. Is that what's classless? Or more the fact that you decided to tar and fether all the city for a couple of idiots?

I blame that meat-head Jack Todd!

At any rate, good for Bob Gainey for sticking up for his players. It was a well timed rant on his part.

I honestly don't see what the big freaking deal is.

For christ-sake, these are sports fans. If they shell out $50 on tickets and beer, they can stand and their head and recite the Emancipation Proclamation in Pig Latin for all that management should care.

Poor Briesbois.... must be so hard for the multi-millionaire, being subjected to such cruel punishment and all.

The fans should boo the team, not a player, it's getting personnal, which can't be tolerated.

If the crowd was booing Brisebois for his poor play, well that would be one thing. But when he's one of the best players on the ice and some fans still decide to single it out...well nobody needs that.

Like i said before, good for Gainey. Nobody needs those small groups of idiots who constantly embarass us good Habs fans. These are likely the same clowns that threw the banana at Kevin Weekes, and used to throw coins at Jocelyn Thibault.

all the americans like to take trips up to Montreal every home game just so they can boo when Patrice steps on the ice . Dirty English, sullying those loyal Habs fans reputations

My only experience with hockey fans in Montreal was not a good one. It was the 96 World Cup game 3. It was a disgrace as they bood the national team and completely quit when Canada went 3-2 down. They littered the ice after the game. It pathetic and something i will never forget. It was great to see gainey take a shot.I'm not a Brisebois fan but he does not deserve this just like larry Murphy did not deserve it in Toronto, yes Toronto one of the few times i was ashamed of our fans. I hope it does not happen again.

kind of a hollow argument, cause 3/4 of the habs fans on this board attempted to justify or blow off the banana incident as not a big deal. A couple Even said "Maybe they didnt know what it ment"

while i dont have an opinion of the booing, to blame all incidents on the "same group of fans" cries of a cop out.

1-A large part of Canadians are against the USA and G.Bush ....

2-A part of french canadians don't like the USA and the rest of Canada .

When you see ''They deserved it'' on the 1st page of the 09-12-02 newspaper you see that we have a real problem here .

I would agree that a large part of Canadians are against the G Bush. Jozeph, read this and tell me why I should like this man. Why does it bother you that many Canadians don't like him?

RESUME

George Walker Bush

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:

I ran for congress and lost. I produced a Hollywood slasher B movie.
I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas; company
went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.
I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. Biggest move: Traded Sammy Sosa to Chicago.
With my father's help and nearly the same name, was elected Governor ofTexas.
I changed pollution laws for oil and power companies and made Texas the most
polluted state in the nation.
I replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in
America.
I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government in billions in borrowed
money. I set the record for most executions by any governor in American
history.
I became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes,
withthe help of Republican appointments to the Supreme Court.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

As president, I attacked and took over two countries.
I spent the country's surplus and bankrupted the treasury.

I set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12
monthperiod.
I set all-time record for biggest stock market drop in its history.
I am the first president in decades to execute a federal prisoner. I am
thefirst president in US history to enter office with a criminal record.
In myfirst year in office set the all-time record for most vacation days
taken by any president.
After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, I presided
overthe worst security failure in US history.
I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips of any other
president in US history.
In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their
jobs.
I cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any
president in US history.
I set the all-time record for the most mortgage foreclosures in a
12-month period.
I appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than
any president in US history, set the record for the lowest number of press conferences than any president since the invention of television.
I signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution than
any president in US history.
I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to
intervene when corruption was revealed.
I presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused
to use the national reserves as past presidents have.
I cut healthcare benefits for war veterans.
I set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously
take to the streets to protest me (15 million people),
shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of
mankind.
I dissolved more international treaties than any president in US
history.
My presidency is the most secretive and unaccountable of any in US
history.
Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US
history.
(The 'poorest' multimillionaire, Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil
tanker named after her).
I am the first president in US history to have all 50 states bankrupted
at the same time.
I presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market
in any country in the history of the world.

more than any president in US history, while at the same time proposing tax cuts.
I am the first president in US history to have the United Nations
remove the US from the human rights commission.
I am the first president in US history to have the United Nations
remove the US from the elections monitoring board.
My administration has the least amount of congressional oversight than
any in US history.
I withdrew from the World Court of Law.
I refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war, as
prescribed by the Geneva Convention.
I authorized construction of an execution chamber in Guantanamo Bay,
being the first president to ever construct a death camp for war internees.
I hold the record for most corporate campaign donations.
My biggest lifetime campaign contributor, who is also one of my best
friends, presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds
in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).
I spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in US
history.
I am the first president in US history to unilaterally attack a
sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
I am the first US president in history to have a majority of the people
of
Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace
and stability.
I changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded
government contracts.
I set all-time records for the number of administration appointees who
violated US law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding
for government contracts.
I failed to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'.
I failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders
of our country at the United States Capitol building.
After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects.
I removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any
other president in US history.
In a little over two years I created the most divided country in
decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the Civil War.
I entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less
than two years every economic category plunged.

Hey, I was just following the direction that Jozeph Balej pointed the thread.

You're damn right I proved him correct. What's stupid is some guy tells me I should like Bush simply because it pisses him off that Canada doesn't blindly follow Bush and the US. He's entitled to his opinion and I'm entitled to mine. I just backed myself up with evidence as to why I could care less about Bush.

This is a politically oriented thread, or at least that's how I read it. If it's too academic for you then read something else. But what I posted isn't stupid. It's sad.

I don't like Bush and I don't think anybody should tell you to like Bush. But I wouldn't be quoting Micheal Moore verbatim. The guy isn't the most trustworthy and honest with his 'facts'. 'Bowling for Columbine' was not a documentary-great piece of fiction-but not a docu. Anyway, I digress. Canadians fans did boo the American anthem once the war in Iraq started. I don't care what anybody says-that's pretty classless.

And I don't get this booing your own player for a team that you like. It doesn't make sense. Why would you escalate a players shoddy play but trying to get him off his game. Seems counter productive to me. You usually boo or jeer a player from the opposing team. The Kings had the biggest waste of skin last year-Craig Johnson. Everybody hated him-but nobody ever booed him. You just hoped he didn't knee any other of his teammates in the head.

Hey, I never claimed to be the author. But as far as I'm concerned it's enough evidence for me to think that he's a fraud whose daddy bought him the presidency. Why don't you go to a pro-Bush site and find something that makes him look like a good president?

If you were referring to the banana incident or booing national anthems maybe you should have stated that.

"1-A large part of Canadians are against the USA and G.Bush ...."

For the record, it was originally New York fans who booed the Canadian anthem FIRST when the Leafs played them a couple of playoffs ago. You like to dish it out but you certainly can't take it. As for the banana, yeah, you caught me! Good comeback.

Listen, I'm not going to continue a war of words with you. You are obviously unarmed. As it is you can barely form a coherent sentence.
