My guess:
RFA's

Chris Stewart 3.0 million
Peter Mueller 2.25 million
Kyle Quincey 2.5 million
Brandon Yip 1.5 million
Porter 920K (QO)

UFA's
Yelle(.800)
Foote (2)
Hendricks (.800)
Backup for Andy (whether it's Budaj or someone else, 1.0)

Jones-Stastny-Stewart
Mueller-Duchene-Hejduk
Galiardi-O'Reilly-Yip
McLeod-Yelle-Hendricks
Stoa

Hannan-Liles
Quincey-Wilson
Cumiskey-Foote
Shattenkirk

Anderson
Backup

Total:

Paul Stastny $6,600,000 $6,600,000
Scott Hannan $4,500,000 $4,500,000
J.M. Liles $4,425,000 $4,200,000
Matt Duchene $900,000 $3,200,000
Chris Stewart $3,000,000 $3,000,000
Milan Hejduk $3,000,000 $3,000,000
Kyle Quincey $2,500,000 $2,500,000
Peter Mueller $2,250,000 $2,250,000
Adam Foote $2,000,000 $2,000,000
Craig Anderson $2,125,000 $1,812,500
Brandon Yip $1,500,000 $1,500,000
Kevin Shattenkirk $875,000 $1,300,000
Cody McLeod $900,000 $1,033,333
Peter Budaj $1,000,000 $1,000,000
Kevin Porter $920,000 $920,000
Ryan O'Reilly $900,000 $900,000
T.J. Galiardi $637,500 $875,000
David Jones $850,000 $837,500
Stephane Yelle $800,000 $800,000
Matt Hendricks $800,000 $800,000
Kyle Cumiskey $675,000 $600,000
Ryan Wilson $530,000 $551,667
Total $ $44.18 Million

Thats 44.18 million with a 22 man roster. We have over 12 million for upgrades, should management want to spend it. More than enough for a top flight dman like Martin or Hamhuis or Volchenkov.

If the Avs can stay between the lower to mid 40s I am sure most of the signings will be cap friendly and we'll all have to start lynching Stastny and Llies for their contract.

In other news, Volchenkov wants 5M. I would rather go after,

1. Matrin [5 - 5.5 M?]
2. Hammy [4 - 5 M?]
3. Volchenkov [5 - 5.5 M?]

EDIT need to think about Andy too.

Absolutely not. We should wait a few years to figure out exactly where salaries for the young guys are going to be before we sign any expensive free agents. We have to learn from the Hawks' mistakes.

Haha I'm being sarcastic. The idea of that dude on our team has made me sick to my stomach since deadline time.

Kovalchuk will screw our salary structure. Right now our bar is set at Stastny, 6.6 mill is about 1 mill too much already. Kovalchuk is really worth about 6.5-7 mill, he will get paid 8.5. Thats going to bite us in the butt in salary negotiations for Duchene/Mueller/Stewart, because I think it'll push everyone's salary slightly higher than they should be, which accumulates into a mess.

I mean Barker getting 3 mill, Versteeg getting 3 mill, Buff getting 3, I think all of it has a little to do with Campbell's big contract. Now, lets see what Niemi gets, I think just having Huet there will get his contract slightly too high.

ya i hope they dont add kovalchuck he may score 40-50 goals but he ll probably be a reason for another 30 from being lazy
avs have offense and with jones and mules healthy its not worth signing him
defense is the biggest problem usually they thats the best thing to work on is the problem not something that is working

You can cross Sertich off, he'll be playing in Switzerland next year.

Mules, thank god for his horrible performance in the past two seasons [excluding his last 15 games]. Right now, I'd guess, 2 - 2.5? As for Beef Cake, 3.5 is my guess.

Man have our cap situation improved quickly. 06/07 when Joe's cap hit was 8 million and with Theo's contract, that really hurt us bad.

Contract negotiations aren't really based on teammates' salaries. And Kovalchuk would be the highest producer on the team, guaranteed.

I'm actually shocked that out of all the guys on this board, you would say that lol.

The reason that I've agreed with you a lot on Stastny is because he's the highest paid player on the team. I think it was intentional during Sakic's last years that he was making 6 mil and the top paid player on the team. It definitely signifies responsibility and expected production from a player.

If the highest paid player on a team is not pulling his weight with his contract, the other players definitely have a reason to demand more salary. Why wouldn't they?

He would score the most goals, if that's what you mean. But really he only had 6 more points than Stazz did this season, so I wouldn't be so sure.

I don't think 6 points is worth the 2+ million more over the already overpaid Stastny.

Its becoming more and more clear that people have never watched Kovie but yet have developed a hatred for him.

I've been a huge kovalchuk supporter from day one. It was my thing: anti-Stastny, pro-Kovy

And players don't base their salaries on teammates. Its a fact. They ask for what their market value is, meaning what they're worth based on similar players around the league. During UFA period, their market values increase....quite a bit, sometimes.

Fact.

Their salary is based off past performance and current contracts league wide, not club wide.

I dont think anybody hates the guy.

Its just that the guy wants top coin, and has one playoff win in his whole entire career (8 seasons). I can guarantee you that he will never win a Stanley Cup being the best player on his team. But he wants Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin money yet he`s not even in the same league as them. One dimensional left winger, 8 million. That`s a joke.
