Also comforting about Sammy is how well the Wings can develop a player. Work ethic, leadership, experience. Shows a strong system and one that can last, which means good things for the future of the team.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that his shooting percentage will drop back to career norms next season and his goals will drop down to the totals he had here, as well. I certainly wouldn't expect him to keep up this pace and/or to stay as a 30 goal scorer next season.

That's not really going out on a limb.

There is no reason to believe that he will go back to old stats as long as he stays with the Sedins - they got chemistry.

Indeed. I thought the same thing about Burrows when he did good with the Sedins last season. But he proved me wrong this year.

Samuelsson is very unlikely to slow down.

Ok, lets see what happens next season. He has a career shooting percentage of 8.3 percent and had a shooting percentage of 13.7 percent this season. And, its been shown that there is a lot of variability in shooting percentage on a year to year basis (hence, how he could have a 12.3 % shooting percentage in 06 and then drop to 7.4% in 07). I think he'll regress back towards his career norms next season.

His first season using contact lenses. Perhaps that has some impact?

Go back to the part where I'm supposed to care about how good Sammie is doing on Vancouver because I apparantly must have missed it. The way it looks now Chicago will be playing Vancouver in the 2nd round translation Vancouver will be out of the playoffs after that round.

We'll see if any of the two teams reach the 2nd round. Both teams have improved greatly since last season, there is no easy win for anyone. Samuelsson has surely been a success story for Vancouver one just hope that he continues the way he has started.

That could turn out to be the best series of the entire playoffs. I hope it happens - I'm looking forward to it.

Hey, I wonder if Detroit could have used a goal-scoring forward today?

Argh.

God forbid, but if Detroit loses tonight I officially demand you do a Death Metal remix of Babcock's presser.

I just seen that on the main board and thought to share it here.....

.....but I love your idea. I think it would be a "real, real good" remix.
