Don't get your shorts in a bind junior. You've got yourself all in a tizzy.

Wow, you saw right through that one. I wouldn't try and put words in your mouth, I have a pretty good idea what has already been put in there.

To get this thread a little bit more on track what are the rules about stick lifts ?

I ask because in certain situations I'll preemptively lift an opposing players stick if a pass is coming to him and I can't get a stick in the lane. Its particularly effective in front of the net if a teammate is in position to pick up the puck after it goes through.

I've been doing it for probably 20 years now but two nights ago some dude complained and I don't actually know the rule.

Situation 1
A player hooks the stick of another player causing him to lose
possession of the puck. Is this a legal action?
No. Rule Reference 619(a).
Although a stick lift is an accepted checking technique,
hooking the stick is not.
The rules are vague on sticklifts, but they are legal as long as you don't use the blade to hook the opponents stick. This was all I could find in the casebook for sticklifts. The gut that was complaining was just pissed because he didn't get the puck.

Yeah, I've had a bunch of guys complain to the ref about me lifting their stick as they're all setup in the slot to knock in a pass.

It's legal, they're just complaining.

I am relatively new to playing hockey and currently am playing in a non-contact men's league. When I am playing defensively (on offense or defense), if I skate in between a player on the other team and the puck while another player on my team is going for it, is that interference? Since there is no contact I'm not knocking him off the play, but I am still impeding his path to the puck. Is this good defense or interference? I have never been called for it but since it's beginners there is some leeway.
Thats legal, you can get in his way, but you can not use your body to prevent him from getting the puck, but if he skates into you, its interference.

It is also NOT interference if your going for the puck also and you get in his way, so if i were you id go for the puck and get in his way at the same time.
