Halak was going to be traded if Gainey did not resign

According to David Schatia on The Team 990 right now with Tony Marinaro, Halak was going to be traded if Gainey did not resign mid-season and it was going to happen for sure and depending on the return.

David Schatia also mentioned that he would always have to console Halak for the past 4 seasons because he was always frustrated and angry at being the backup and always getting demoted, apparently when he came into camp, he was confident that he can steal Theodore's job as well.

Something tell's me Gainey never gave him a chance...

Now imagine if Halak was traded to either Washington or Philadelphia and we missed the playoffs?

Discuss!

Side note: David Schatia is Halak's and Fleury's agent

The regular few will still deny it. "NOOOO he just asked for an opportunity!!!!!11one11."

I believe one of his agents came out and stated he did in fact ask for a trade.

For those who are wondering who/what his credibility is... David Schatia is the Montreal director of Octa8on Hockey. Which Walsh is part of.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit at all. Clearly Price is Gainey's "thoroughbred".

I don't think Gauthier is as attached, however. That's actually a good thing because moving forward I'd lock up both, put Price in the backseat to develop a bit and then see where he's at in a couple of years before trading either.

I see Price is Chicago sooner than later!

What does this has to do with anything ?

One fact : Gainey was going to trade him for scraps, Gauthier didn't.

Halak could have asked for a trade or not, it's the GM's decision to do so. Gainey was blindly in love with Price, unlike some posters, while Gauthier was willing to wait and give Halak an opportunity or at least not interfer with the coach's decisions.

Best thing that happened this season for the team was Gainey leaving...

I just don't understand who you're saying denied this. Gainey told the media himself that he offered him to Philly because Halak told him I want playing time or a trade. Anyone who denied that is just delusional.

As if it was a bad thing.

He's been treated like crap, but he should've just bent over and accept to sacrifice the most important years in his development process, just because Price's "phenomenal talent OMGZZZ!!!", which never lead this team anywhere so far?

Yeah, right. I would've asked for a trade right after the 2007 training camp, where he was the best goalie and STILL got pushed aside by Gainey in favor of Price.

Agreed.

I'm not going to name anyone, but there were a few posters who absolutely denied that Halak wished to be traded. They would state numerous times that he just asked for playing time and NOT for a trade.

In a way, he asked for both. But he did in fact ask for a trade.

Wow, you guys are freaks. Say this is true. Before gainey stepped down, Price was the guy, afterwards halak started taking over the job(coincidence). I doubt gainey would've traded him then. It's nice to assume without regarding the change in circumstances isn't it? If halak was still backup, even gauthier would've made the deal.

That guy is Halak's agent. He's Alan Walsh's partner at Octagon Hockey.

Right, but Schatia is essentially his boss, he is a director at the agency where Walsh works. He'd be privy to such information obviously.

Well last night game just changed a lot of thing. Halak is now ahead of Price and if they do trade one of them this summer, it would have to be Price.

I was a Price fan, I change my mind.

I want Halak to be the #1 next year.

I didn't hear the radio interview so my question is this:

Did David Schatia say Halak/his agent requested a trade or that he was going to be traded?

Because saying he was going to be traded and depending on the return only means that Gainey was actively shopping him but didn't want to sell cheap, which is something we all knew.

I actually remember Gainey saying before the start of the season that he was happy to have 2 goalies that could potentially be number 1 and it is up to them to prove they deserve to be the starter.

What you're saying makes absolutely zero sense.

So management told Gainey, if you don't resign, we're going to trade Halak? I have no idea in what universe that makes any sense.

Plus you're saying it was going to happen FOR SURE, depending on the return.

What the hell.

This is an idiot comment. Schiata himself stated that Gainey was going to "try to accommodate" Halak if they could get the right return.

By definition, this means he was NOT going to trade him for scraps.
