Steen says no to WC

Googletranslation:
Translation from Swedish to English
Re-Bids for Three Crowns before the World Cup is almost the same as a team.
St. Louis-striker Alexander Steen will negotiate a new contract after the NHL season and would therefore not encounter any damage during the World Cup, which begins next week.
Therefore, he declined.

Bergfors played anyway

Striker Nicklas Bergfors Atlanta, 23, is in the same situation as Alexander Steen contract terms, but have nevertheless chosen to play in the World Cup in Germany. Last spring came NHL defenseman Johnny Oduya to the World Cup, despite closing the contract.
This year, Dallas also turned down hill Nicklas Grossman World Cup when he will write a new NHL contract.

None Ersberg World Cup

Coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson awaiting a decision from Nashville Patric Hörnqvist (which has an upper body injury) and Buffalo Swedish Olympic ski Henrik Tallinder.
By contrast, Los Angeles goalkeeper Erik Ersberg, 28, does not arise for the World Cup.
- No, "said Bengt-Ake Gustafsson card.

What do you guys think about Steens logic? Not playing because he is afraid of getting injured. Do you guys think its just a cheap excuse?

That's fair, and for all you know he may just be opting out of the WC because his agent recommended he do so.

He's at a point where is career is in the NHL and not international play so he's probably looking at what success is left in that for him. He doesn't need it from a development option, he's done quite well this year as it is. So until it's a shot at a Gold Medal I think he focuses on his pro-career.
