Yeah, SJ may not like this one... I'd say Edm would be on the fence as well, unless they hold Price in as high regard as the Habs' fans.

Oilers don't want Price. And, we already have 3 goalies.

From SJ's point of view we're getting seriously hosed. Vlasic is one of the best defensive dmen in the game right now. Clowe and him are the two most valuable assets in the entire trade. The Sharks are basically downgrading on forward and defense just to dump Huskins' salary. (And that isn't really even necessary.)

So:

Sharks give:
Clowe (3.6)
Vlasic (3.1)
Huskins (1.7)

Total: 8.4m

Get:
Souray (5.4)
Kostitsyn (3.25)
Cogliano (1.1)
2nd

Total: 9.75m

So your asking a cap strapped team to absorb 1.375m.

We downgrade defensively (which we need), upgrade defensively (which we don't need) and gain 0 mobility on the back end.

We downgrade from Clowe to Kostitsyn (imo)

I don't mind Huskins for Cagliano though, atleast it improves our team speed.

Why would we do that? It not only doesn't address our needs, it makes problems we already have worse.

Pass.

Edmonton is rebuilding - I can't see them adding players like Hamerlik, with a $5.5m cap hit, and only a year remaining. Vlasic is a value contract, but Edmonton really doesn't need Maxwell, and the value of Price (and goalies in general) isn't enough to make up the difference.

Even if they wanted to, with Price signing a minimal RFA offer (5%) Edmonton would add $4.3m in cap hit, and lose the 31st overall pick. Not likely.

I do not see SJS trading Vlasic he makes 3 mill and is going to be a legit player in the NHL, he has shown so far that he is. Plus trading Huskins who is another D prospect. Montreal is the winner of this trade proposal. The loosers are first edmonton then SJS

Potential line combinations for all three teams.2010/2011 season

MTL
Gionta,Gomez Pouliot
Cammy,Plek,Clowe
Brule,Moore,MaxPac
Moen,Lapierre,Pyatt
White
Markov,Subban
Gorges,Gill
Huskins,Spacek
Obyrne
Halak

SJS
Heatly,Joe T, Ak46
Pavelski,Marleau,Seto
Ferriero,Cogs,Malhotra
Couture,Mitchelle,Mcginn
Vesce
Boyle,Blake
Douglas,Sourray
Demers,Wallin
Callahan
Naby

EDM
Hemsky,Horcoff,Penner
Eberle,Seguin,Svensson
Potulny,Gagner,Osullivan
Pouliot,Nilsson,Moreau
Sortini,maxwell
Hammer,Whitney
Vlasic,Gilbert
Smid,Johnson
Chorney
Khabi

Besides MTL terrible improvements

Like hell we wouldn't just get rid of JDD and Dubnyk if we got Price on the team.

"Oh no, our valuable young goal tenders. How are we ever going to make last place with Khabbibulin and Price playing in net this year."

I don't want to get rid of Cogs or Brule if we don't have to, but I'd do this deal in a second. Vlasic would be a nice addition to the team as well.

Oilers get Price who could be a top 5 goalie in the league and has been great as a young goalie, Vlasic who would likely be the Oilers best D-Man, Hamrlik who would be a good top 4 for them, and all that for Cogliano, Brule, a 2nd and Souray? Hammer is as good as Souray, Price is worth at least Brule+2nd, and Vlasic is worth at ton more than Cogs.

I think Oilers fans should like this.

So let me get this straight. Since we're rebuilding we don't want Hamrlik and his 5.5 million which would come off the books after next season, but we do want Souray and his salary over the next how many years?

This trade would save the Oilers cap space in the long run, which is exactly what we're looking to do.

Listen here Shark fans, two of the three teams want to do this deal, so you're out of luck. Keep up with the bad attitude and we'll be throwing Thornton and Heatley in the deal. Smarten up.

I guess that makes sense. Why would a rebuilding team have any interest in a 22 year old goaltender who's already had 3 excellent NHL seasons and a history of success (both individual and team) at every level he's ever played? I mean, they've got Khabibulin. He's young and durable, isn't he?

Then maybe those two teams should deal with eachother only?

We'll give up Huskins, but screw off if you think Clowe and Vlasic are available.

Taking Souray over Vlasic at a much higher cap hit is just plain stupid. Souray's main asset is his shot. Defensively, the only guys in the league better than Vlasic are in the top echelon of defensemen, (e.g., Pronger, Keith, Lidstrom, etc.) Souray is not at that level, and a hard shot certainly isn't worth the downgrade on defensive ability and an extra $2M in cap hit.

Better value for Vlasic, but the Sharks have too many goalies in the farm system to justify moving D (which the Sharks need) for a goalie. Oh and Souray? Hahahahahahahaha. No.

All Montreal is going to get for price would be a 2nd line foward and a 3 rd pick and backup goalie or a 3rd 4th dman backup goalie 2nd or 3rd rd pick anything else is a overpayment.

Im sure MTL fans would be against this proposal aswell since Brule + Huskins is all they get back for their prime trade chip.

I love making proposals that NONE of the sides like yet they fill their needs.
