Hope all the HF Preds fans are okay. The Memphis area and West TN didn't come out of this storm completely unscathed, but holy cows and chickens, guys. I'm really worred for all you Nashville/Middle TN folks. Stay safe and be careful.

it's pretty bad. we're lucky, we were landlocked with flooded roads in all directions, until this am, and we now have one road out. but power only went out for about 5 hours yesterday.
Most of the ladies from the glass are on facebook and most seem ok.
Things are going to get worse for a while before we can even begin to dig out. (when I said "we" I meant the greater middle Tn area, not me..)
It's unfreaking unbelievable.

My friend is stuck in Nashville and he's really worried. He doesn't know how he is going to get home. I'm keeping in touch with him. I heard that it is taking people 10 hours to get to Memphis.

One of my friends I grew up with used to go to Pennington Bend Church of Christ (I think that's what it's called). Also known as the tiny church near Two Rivers church. Most of his family lives in that area. As far as I know, Mt. Juliet was relatively spared but either way it's hard to look at.

Anywhere near the rivers are going to be little lakes for awhile. There is a house near mine with water almost to the eaves and that horse barn in Hermitage is also nearby. I saw the horses on the higher ground today so wherever the neighbors took them was short lived. They all seem to be fine, though. My family was most fortunate. We're near the Cumberland, Stones River and the dam but neither my house, my daughter's house or the office was damaged in any way. Sometimes it's good to live on a hill.
My sister got back into her house today. At the shelter, people had brought dry clothing and had taken their clothes home to dry them. People kept showing up all day with food also. She said it looked like there had been seven feet of water on the first level. The water was at about two feet when they arrived today and was down to two inches by the time they left. The smell is not good!
Her dining table had turned upside down and wedged against her china cabinet and prevented the cabinet from moving so her husband's grandmother's china is fine. She found concert tickets she had purchased for an upcoming concert floating in the water. She was so excited about those items.
She has lost her scrapbooks, her Goofy mug collection, her refrigerator is on top of her kitchen cabinets and there were knives floating in the water. She has a whole crew from her church showing up late this afternoon to pack up her upstairs to keep those items from mildewing and someone has donated boxes, bubble wrap and tape. She said FEMA will be out tomorrow to set up a trailer in her neighborhood.
It appears that she is the only one with flood insurance as the neighborhood had petitioned to have the area re-surveyed and removed from the flood plain. After that everyone but my sister apparently had canceled their flood insurance.
Might be heading out there this weekend to help her sort through things.
I'm sick to my stomach. I have been fortunate enough not to have any water in my house or car but seeing my city destroyed like this is gut wrenching.
Both of my parents work for MTA and the damage is devastating. The first floor of their building is 7 feet under water, with more coming (since their backlot is literally right on the river). All first floor offices with irreplaceable documents are destroyed as well as 100+ computers and all sorts of supplies. About twenty buses are permanently destroyed as well as a couple Access Ride vehicles (the "short" buses). The parking lot is still a swimming pool. They are currently working on finding a temporary alternate location for business, but it doesn't appear that the buses will run until later this week or maybe even next week.
Our main garage that handles most of the AT&T fleet vehicles in Middle TN had/has 3 or so feet of water in it. The water is laced with raw sewage, oil, gas, and so forth. So if you call for service on the lines and it takes a while...well...a nice chunk of our fleet and the means to maintain it is under water.
