I like! Is it confirmed as to whether Kalinski is in or Ross?

No word. I certainly would expect Nodl back in. I thought he had a good game 1.

I seriously doubt that's how they turn out. Ross makes no sense on the wing on the 3rd line and Asham should be kept with JVR in my opinion. 1st, 2nd and 4th lines seem ok it's just that 3rd on there that looks awful.

No reason to keep Ross in the lineup if he's playing the wing.

They won't do it this year but I wouldn't object to seeing JVR do some centering. He did it in college. His skating is certainly good enough and he pays attention to defense and seems a smart enough player to understand the coverages and not get lost out there.

DNL just said the Flyers are on TCN tonight. If this means they are blacking out the Versus feed I will be so ****ing pissed off. So will many others in the Philly area I suppose.

I think Barkan mis-spoke. The bottom line says that pre game and post game are on TCN...

Just the pre-game show, the game is on Versus.

Am I hearing right?

That guy on Sportsnite said the game was going to be on TCN? Am I wrong?

If so.. Versus will get blacked out.. because i'm supposed to get TCN but I don't get it.

EDIT: I saw the above post.

Man, that is stupid. Some of it's good, but then some is not and that ****s it all up. Hartnell and JVR should be switched. JVR does not fit the ideal profile of a 3rd line grinder. He's not good for that role. And by the same token, we're not going to be seeing significant offensive contributions from him if he's playing alongside Powe and Ross. It's a waste all the way around. He should be a complimentary piece on a scoring line. And Hartnell has proven time and time again that he is incapable of contributing offense, just stick him on a grinding line already where he actually does fit.

And if they absolutely insist on keeping Ross in the lineup(I'd rather replace him with Kalinski), he should be switched with Asham. Asham is better suited to a checking line that might have a chance of producing some offense, not to mention he should be getting typical 3rd line minutes rather than 4th over Ross. Ross brings more speed and energy than Ash, he's better off in the 4th line role with 4th line minutes.

You need to be putting your players and team in the best possible position to succeed. Those lines don't do it for me.

All that said, too much is often made of the way the lines are constructed...I'll admit I'm sometimes a culprit. Players need to play, that's the most important thing. Hopefully, they can get it done....but hey, if anyone has Lavi's phone #, PM me before the game starts so I can hit him up and smack some sense into him.

I think we all do.

I called those lines by the way in that other topic. Only thing I'm mad about is Ross. It's almost as bad as Stevens constantly playing Cote or Matsumoto never being given a shot. Ross brings nothing to the table when he plays his natural position, let alone a non-natural position. I mean, come on. Kalinski deserves it so much more over him.

I wonder if Kalinski has a nagging injury or something, because this seems a bit odd.

Kind of, but this is the same team that keeps playing Hartnell over JVR and Leino and gave Cote a constant spot in the lineup before the coaching change.

Well, I don't entirely disagree with the Hartnell thing, in the playoffs he has improved his discipline a lot and is probably still better defensively than JVR and Leino at this stage despite his bad season. I think if Hartnell can have something go his way in the playoffs it might pay off sticking with him.

That's the argument that's been used to justify him keeping a top six position for pretty much the entire season (post and regular). At some point you just have to demote him to the third line.

I wouldn't consider Hartnell a tangible improvement defensively over JVR personally.

As for the Kalinski thing, I think it's more about Laviolette not being used to the players in the farm system yet. Or at least I hope because playing Ross is kind of an idiotic thing to do right now. Kalinski has been practicing too so I doubt he's injured.
