Jordan Staal is skating

Not sure if it has been posted but Mr. Staal is skating and looks like he'll be back this series. Leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I wouldn't be surprised if he played tomorrow. He was skating fine at practice today.

yeah no way we are winning now. I don't care how good Halak is, Staal is the King of Penalty Kill.

He was skating yesterday too... Today he full on practiced with equipment. I don't get it... Only explanation is that he is Wolverine.

They get two games off, we get a career threatening injury to our best player.

Simply put, he wasn't as injured as badly as stated. Overstating an injury to make headlines and a feel good story.

What sickens me even more is it puts Markov out for MONTHS and Staal sits a game.

Of course the severity of the injuries are completely different but it's just the bad luck that gets to you

he was skating
but it was also reported that is was limping and couldnt pivot in his skate boot
and could barley stop.
so i doubt tomorrow or saturday even would be possible if that was true

Whether the above is true or not, if he does come back at any point, the Habs should target him and finish every single check against him, to try throw him off balance to reinjure his ankle.

In the playoffs, you push every edge you have against your opposition.

No need to get overly dramatic. 30 years ago this injury would have ended his career. With technology these days, he'll be as good as new when training camp rolls around.

It's too bad about Markov but I hope Staal returns as soon as he can.

Does Pittsburgh realize how fortunate they are getting. Or do they think they are greatest dynasty in the history of hockey? I don't understand how these bums can think they're good when they injured our best player and can only scrape away a 1-0 win from a powerplay goal and an emplty netter. Wow I hope that crosby or malkin get hurt and cry while being escorted from the ice, because they know the season's done for them.

I dont think Pittsburghs a better team. I think that with Markov and Spacek in the lineup, our defense is considerably better. The only advantage they have on us is Crosby and Malkin. But we arent the edmonton oilers. We have a strong offense with cammaleri, gionta, gomez, plekanec, etc.

While I don't condone intentionally injuring anyone, you do have a point. If Staal comes back to play in this series, he is subject to anything the Habs throw at him legally. If he comes back too early and the Habs target him with clean checks every time he has the puck, and he reinjures his foot, I'll be pissed at Staal/Pens organization.

nope. not if you've been watching these playoffs. We should have won the last game by 2 goals IMO. Fleury unfortunately stole it. With Staal, things change drastically.

Also yeah, Pens fans starting to become quite forgetful of the years between 2000-2005 and of a guy called Andrei Markov. I still think the series is evenly matched. I wasn't sure when Marky went down, but we all know who stepped up.

Better team in the playoffs means more than just paper. Granted they have a very well rounded club, but I think our heart and determination has been insane these playoffs and that counts for a lot. "Better team" needs to be qualified.

So far I've been rather unimpressed with that Pittsburgh team, the only reason they're stronger is Malkin/Crosby... without them they're not even a playoff team...

they have two 5 VS 5 goals in 3 games against us, and we're playing without Markov and Spacek so...

It's time to attack him again at his Achilles heel (literally). Putting him out of action in the first period would not only eliminate him but also leave the Penguins a man short.

We are the ones who barely made the playoffs and if they aren't that good us not being able to score a goal with the momentum all on our side for game 3 says a lot about us don't you think?
