Never heard of this guy. Good signing? Better be for $1.75 mil for a non NHL goalie.

After the reported interest in Evgeny Bodrov, the Philadelphia Flyers seems to be going after young goalie Sergei Bobrovsky of Metallurg Novokuznetsk, as per Sport-Express.
Bobrovsky, 21, spent his entire career with Metallurg Novokuznetsk and is the team's starter goalie for the past three seasons and he always had a saves percentage of more than .900. Playing for one of the weakest KHL teams he faced every night a good amount of shots and showed that he can deal well with pressure.
In his career Bobrovsky represented Russia at the 2008 WJC and at the 2007 Super Series against Canada. His contract will run out in April and the Flyers will have to work hard to secure him as surely most of the top KHL teams are going to offer him good deals. SKA St. Petersburg were among them.

There's been a lot of talk about him on here. He's possibly the top free agent Euro goalie I believe, but it's not my area of expertise.

I doubt we go into camp without a starter already signed.

We will have some cap space and Holmgren may trade a Briere or Hartnell.
I think whoever is our starter will likely cost $3.5M or less so it's doable.

Great signing!!
I'm thinking put in the AHL next year as the starter. Then after next season make him our back up. Give him some starts and build from there. Hopefully by then Eriksson will be in N.A.

He might be a great signing, believe me. Many say that he is as good as Varlamov and I don't disagree

One of my readers:
"We not only got a Russian, but we got a goalie too? A Russian Goalie? On the Flyers? Let that sink in for a second. The world is ****ed."

a few things:
i hope we still resign backlund. you can never have too many goalie prospects. also, will we see eriksson in north america?
i mentioned this in another thread, but what are your guys' thoughts on dumping salary (hartnell...) and goign after nabokov? we have some young d guys or hartnell to dangle to SJS for his rights. we could bring him in for 2-4 years to be here as a starter and mentor initially, then phase him out as he gets older and bobro is more ready.
