"history will be made" commercials

the original "history will be made" commercials were great. orr, messier, yzerman, lemieux, gretzky and borque. they were powerful. you knew the stories behind the commercials. the new batch they came out with i think are too new. its not history. its just joe pavelski falling down while making a pass and things of that nature. nothing too memorable i would say.

what are your thoughts of these commercials and the new batch that came out?

I also think they should have stuck to the classic moments. They've already overdone and killed them IMO. Even the music annoys me now.

I like the music - I guess it's original because I can't find what it is anywhere. But, yeah, they are playing the crap out of these.

Been busy lately, so I haven't seen any of the newer ones. But the original ones, that I have seen, are probably the best commercials the NHL has ever done. Moments that are instantly recognizable to fans of the game and make the hair stand up on your neck.

agreed 2k2. the originals really make your hairs stand up. maybe choke you up a little and wish you were there. the new ones make me think "oh. i saw this replay about 8 times on the NHL network."

the only cool ones from the new ones are the Halak and Cammalleri ones. The Fleury one was just a random save he made and the Pavelski one should have been the OT winning goal he scored

The only performance that maybe deserves one of these commercials so far is Halak's performance in round 1 against Washington.

I'd put Savard's OT comeback goal up there. Great moment.

Going a little too far the "History in the Making" aspect they are trying to pull off with the newer ones. Old ones rock though.

I agree the originals are the best group of comercials the NHL has done, they bring a smile to my face every time.

The Mario one is my favorite, that play was so ridiculous, god he was so unreal. The best player to ever lace em' up IMO. It's unreal what he accomplished while dealing with his back and Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He actually played a game the day of his last radiation treatment. Scored 160pts in 60gms that year, including 69G.

Yup.

They have completely taken it too far. The great thing about the original commercials was that they were all significant historical moments that most of us remember. Was Pavel Datsyuk's breakaway goal against the Coyotes something we're going to remember in a couple of months? Nice plays aren't history.

It's getting to the point where we don't even need HFboards posters to make parody videos anymore, the NHL is doing it themselves.

I'm not a fan of the new ones at all. I thought the idea was these were to be reserved for epic, historic moments. Maybe if someone scores an OT goal in the SCF for the Cup, then I can understand... but I'm getting sick of a new commercial after every game.

.

It's a waste for them to do any commercials from this years PO's until they are over.

The older ones were from cup winning teams, showing clips from the games today mean nothing if they don't win the cup.

Taking today's clips and using those from the team that wins the cup for next year would make more sense.

Did anyone see the one the Devils made with Elias feeding Arnott for the Cup winning goal against Dallas? I think MSG+ produced it and it was sooooo low budget and poorly done it was hilarious.

Check out the "what if Patrik Stefan didn't suck" and the "what if Sean Avery wasn't a dick" on you tube. Very funny.
