How about Backlund? He didn't look bad in the limited time he played. He's definitely closest to being NHL ready anyway. Maybe not starting but I wouldn't mind him as the backup next season (Not to Boosh, though. A backup to a newer goalie (Turco please.).).
He isn't easily rattled. He's a very calm, decisive goalie from what I've seen. He isn't going to toy around with the puck behind the net though I'm not entirely sure if that's because he's been taught to play that way or because of personal preference.
People say that rebound control is his weakness, but I didn't see any real issue with it when I watched him. He's pretty quick and doesn't play small in net like I've noticed with Riopel. What I mean by that is that he controls his crease and plays like he owns it, not that he's going to punch somebody or anything. Maybe it's a hard concept to explain. I guess, he is the dominant figure there as opposed to Riopel who I've noticed plays sort of like he's working against this monumental cage behind him. It's not a direct reference to size but play-style, attitude, and confidence.
I did put some clips up of his best saves from this season provided by EuroFlyers. At least he said they were some of his best saves. I'll have to look that up again and post it.
I will caution you though that what I've seen is a small sample size. I'll have a much better idea come summer camps.
The bolded part reminds me of something EuroFlyers told me. He said there was a game where Brosky went off on someone during a game and started chasing them around. I hope he is the Russian Hextall.

I'm nearly 100% sure Backlund won't be back. The Flyers have not discussed anything with him.

How do their ratings compare to those of Boucher, Nitty, and Pelltiere? I remember they were all thought of highly and all Flyers property at the same time.

Boucher was great in his early career but things just tapered off.
Niitty wouldve done so much better had it not been for hip injuries and he could still be our starter today had that not happened.
Pelltiere? Really? I dont ever remember him being a legitimate top notch prospect. Maybe touted as a backup, but I dont think anyone ever though he would get a consistent starting job.

He's been here each of the past few summers. I get the impression that the Flyers are actually pushing him back to Europe at this point for more seasoning.
i cant even begin to vote in that poll since id only skew the results with my guess, but i love that theres actually a decent sized pool of talent for the organization to work with. doesnt exactly help us right now or next season, but at least its something.
Seriously, based on his love for that hoodie, I can only assume that Eriksson's love for Philly borders on obsession.
Yeah the guy comes across as really wanting to make it over here (I say 'here' like I'm the one in Philadelphia...). It's part of the reason I want the guy to do so well I think, he seems so enthusiastic about the Flyers from everything I see and hear about him.
I put my vote in on Eriksson, I know he's not played at the top level in his nation yet but he's done everything you can ask of him at the level he's been placed at. He's got an interesting season coming up trying to oust an encumbered starter in Hadelov but I think he's going to be good personally.
All that said I'm quietly confident about Brosky (personal favourite of the nicknames) too. I know less about him in general but favourable comparisons to Varlamov have me hopeful and the thought of a Russian goalie making it on the Flyers gives me a wry smile everytime I think about it. He performed well on a bad team, I can't wait to see him actually play to get a better read on his strengths and weaknesses.
Perhaps given that I've yet to see Bobrovsky aside from a short clip I based my vote on familiarity and attachment to an established prospect with the Flyers, but I have a good feeling about Sunshine.
i know nothing about the current state of euro hockey leagues or the KHL. which league would be more difficult for a goaltender?
1. KHL (Bobrovsky)
2. SEL
3. FNL
4. Allsvenskan (Eriksson)
That's how I see the level of competition overseas in general.
Basically Eriksson will be going to the SEL at the same age that Bobrovsky went to the RSL (KHL) even though the ages I posted suggest otherwise because of the gap in their birth months.
This makes the monumental assumption that the opposing teams are going to try to exploit defensive weakness via taking a large quantity of harmless shots and hoping to get a bounce, versus working for higher percentage shots.
It's difficult to know that much from comparing the SVPCT of two different guys on two very different teams (one is on the best team in his league and one is on the worst), in two different leagues, with out actually eyeballing some of the game action.
Suffice to say Bobrovsky's stats sound impressive, but have any of us sat and watched him play a whole game? Anyone?
Yes, I am fully prepared to admit that I am making assumptions here. I'm just saying that your statement "and saw more shots" doesn't necessarily make your case stronger. In fact, in my experience, most of the time it's the other way around.
Regardless, his stats looks good and I hope the management have found us a gem here. I'm pretty sure Eriksson will be something special but he needs more time.

I've only seen Eriksson play. I pretty much agree with the scouting report on Eliteprospects.com. The last part especially, when he is on his game he looks almost unbeatable and tends to be the center of attention in the game, you know, like Rask in game 3 I have only seen him in "good" games tho so I don't know about weaknesses although I'm sure there are some.
I might add, that goalies that excel at making the initial saves do well with our defense (mainly because they are amazing at clearing the rebounds).
So Brosky might be a better fit for this team down the road.
That's one thing I noted earlier in the Prospects thread. Brovsky is a first save goalie. From clips I've seen, he can make some incredible first saves. He's athletic and really quick. In a good system with a strong defense and smart defensive forwards, he could really excel. It's not like Boucher and Leighton didn't give out tons of rebounds anyway.
I hope he is the Russian Hextall.
