EGM relaunching this week

Was a big fan of this magazine. Really the only game magazine I ever liked. Its apparently relaunching this month under new ownership.

Does anyone know if any of the staff followed, or are they all still with crappy 1up?

I cannot tell you how excited I am about the return. My subscription is already paid(hopefully I dont regret it like I did with EGM before, maxim might be the worst replacement mag in history, what a piece of garbage).

From what I know, Seanbaby(writer of 'The Rest of the Crap') who wrote all the funniest articles in EGM history is definitely coming back. I also read that Demian Linn and Dan 'Shoe' Hsu are back, and the press release mentioned that we will see many familiar names, so that bodes well.

Most of all I am just excited to once again have something to read on the toilet, old EGMs and National Geographics just dont cut it.

Back when Maxim first came onto the scene it was one of the best all around "guys magazine" you could buy and not feel like a total pervert at the grocery counter. Plus they were a little more risque with the photos too. Once it got bought out by that Cosmo publisher, they tried to turn it exactly into a "guys cosmo" and from there on out it has sucked terribly. Stuff and FHM were just as bad as well. Really disappointing, because all three back in the early 2000's used to rock while on the crapper

Gamepro was the absolute worst gaming mag produced IMO. Everything was a 5 and it never went into any detail at all with things going on in the gaming world or even went retro.

Pick up Game Informer. Great humor.

I was sad to see them go, this was one mag I bought every month.

Will definitely suscribe!

GamePro underwent a facelift sometime in the last year, and is now a phenomenal "grown-up" video game magazine. I checked out the Civilization 5 issue and it blew my mind. Excellent writing, great interviews, highly recommended.

I'm excited for EGM as well. I like having video game mags to read and re-read several times. The whole IGN idea of having reviews and features spread out over many pages (ad revenue garbage) just kills the fun of reading websites, IMO.

Game mags will always be my preferred method of getting my fix. Bring it on.

Got the first paper mag in the mail today, solid comeback. I enjoy the digital stuff more than I thought I would have.

Game Informer thought Tony Hawk Underground 2 was the best game of 2004. Otherwise known as the same year that Half-Life 2, Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2, Burnout 3, GTA San Andreas, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Solid 3, World of WarCraft, The Sims 2, FarCry, The Chronicles of Riddick, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Kotor II came out.

And no, I will not get over it

Late '90s, early '00s Gamepro was solid

Them and EGM absolutely dominated that era of gaming magazines.

Anyone remember EGM(squared)/Expertgamer. Now that was a terrible gaming mag. I still can't believe it was the brother of EGM. At least Game Informer and Lamepro had humor that was a little funny.

Finally found it on newstand. Spent a couple of hours reading it today...

Absolutely great mag. Reminds me why I loved EGM, and why no online site can compare to it. It is beautifully presented as well.
