My brother saw Markov in the airport today. No crutches. Walking fine. Interesting...

True that. Besides, having him on his natural side is probably better anyway. Since Markov is out, might as well give him the LD spot.

You can walk fine with type of injury, in fact several players have played with torn ACL's as long as you keep your knee bent. The problem is that you risk tearing the MCL whick is baaaad. A torn MCL is one of those 6 - 8 months recovery injuries, not to mention effecting your play for ever more and your career.

So it's not that he's being a *****, but rather just being cautious. I don't think anyone wants to loose Markov indefinately or for his career. Besides, we're finding a way to win without him so let him rest some more. Maybe he'll play in the cup finals!

Its the way he took the hit that bothered me. There is something in football called "leverage". Cooke was lower than him and came with speed. Get low and take the hit or get out of the way.

If true, this is nothing but good. I'm not counting him on playing this year, but it shows a lot of improvement, and that's great.

A friend of mine is suffering with an ACL issue (most likely torn). He says he can jog forward pretty well, but thats the issue, he can ony go forward. If he tries to perform quick pivots or turns like you need in a sport, then you are back to square one in terms of rehabbing.

yup, acl=anterior, which is the inside of the knee(think inside as the 2 acls in each knee face each other between your legs) so like your friend noticed, uni direction is fine, changing direction is a *****

You risk injury to the meniscus as well without an ACL to stabilize. If he truly had a torn ACL, we'll be lucky if we see him in training camp. I haven't seen anything mentioning whether it was a complete or partial tear and that's significant.

if Markov plays, then the torn acl report is completely fabricated. There's no way he comes back to play if he has a torn acl.

BTW, any chance for spacek to suit up for game 5?

Probably for moral support.

I highly doubt he plays.

I dont think it means anything. Mara went with the boys to Washington for Game 5/7. I think its just a leadership factor more than anything.

I doubt he plays tommorow.

Then again I did say I doubt Stall plays Game 4 and he did.

How many optional practices has Spacek taken part in now? Like 4? Does anyone know how long he can skate for before he starts feeling dizzy or ill? Is he getting better? Jeez, he has like the most mysterious illness ever...

Depends on the degree of the tear... if it's torn completely, or almost completely, they'll surgically repair it. If it's just a partial tear, sometimes they'll just let it heal on it's own. It completely depends on the degree of damage.

I partially tore my MCL last season but it was minor enough that surgery wasn't required. I was back on skates in three weeks (though I didn't tell me doctor that!) but I play in a non-contact, relatively low-tempo league.

If he had a complete or nearly complete tear, there's absolutely no way he takes the ice before next season. There's too great a risk of further injury to the knee.

Even speculation that he might play i these playoffs is good news. If we can take the pens, the prospect of getting him back in the next round would be huge for motivation.
