Ryan Smyth is (no surprise) the Captain for Team Canada.

Seriously. . interesting choice, I actually don't mind John too much, it's Brian Gayward that's the problem. . .

The US team is not a very good one this year. A lot of the top names declined invitations.

Pretty disappointing, but not all that unexpected.

Not a whole lot of offensive power on Team USA to begin with . . . not really surprising to lose

Most big guys for the US declined. The Olympics is #1 for them, and after a tight season due to the Games, I would have declined too. That's a hell of a lot of hockey to play in a season, especially if the players played any playoff hockey as well.

No knock on JJ, but that's why he's captain. The normal guys who would have been captain declined.

Leafs fan here. Not sure if any of you guys were paying attention to the German team, but Constantin Braun was rock solid on defense yesterday against the USA. He logged 21:34 which was the most on the German squad and I believe he shot the puck that was deflected by Schutz to win the game for Germany. You guys look to have a solid prospect on your hands.

He isn't signed though... Not sure how long the Kings have exclusive rights but I'm thinking anyone wanting to sign him could do so by now. I might be wrong though.

Wow, USA lost against Denmark as well. If they have another bad game against Finland they might have to play to qualify for the world championships next year.

Denmark is looking like a powerhouse! They also beat Finland this past weekend. This is quite possibly one of the weakest US squads to take the ice. Poor Jack, having to don the 'C' and take partial responsibility. I'm sure he's not happy about the results and is probably taking this really hard. The kid is a competitor and you can tell he hates losing.

It is probably a good experience for him either way. He is going to be involved with the USA international teams for the better part of the future. The leadership experience is invaluable. I love that Dean built a team where just about any player can don a letter.

Just watching the Canada game on TSN now and the announcers were saying that Ryan Smyth isn't dressed today. Apparently, he suffered a foot injury in the first game against Italy.
