McGuire on CKAC: Markov on the ice!

Title says it all! According to Martin McGuire, Markov is skating with his teammates today!

Edit: well, he doesn't seem to be comfortable on his skates and he isn't wearing his equipment!

He's not in uniform, and he's not skating well

Hearing that Markov isn't skating well.. tells me we can forget about him for the rest of the series/playoffs.

Quote:
ArponBasu #Habs Markov is shooting pucks, doing these funny-looking balance drills, bending one knee while other leg is in the air.
He also said Markov is skating gingerly.

and now

Quote:
ArponBasu Live from the scene, now #Habs Markov is doing figure eights around the ice. Doesn't seem to be favouring knee. Riveting stuff.
Okay so I just went from positive to negative to back to positive.. man I hate hockey plays with my emotions.

Testing out the brace I guess. It's obvious he was going to try it or he would have had surgery immediately.

Guess we'll find out if he can deal with the pain and the brace.

If this was the first time skating, i guess it's normal for him to be hesitant at first and try more difficult stuff as he goes on.

I don't want to risk a long term - carrer ending - injury with him... I think, I'd be happier if Gill was on the ice and Markov still resting... actually, where the **** is Spacek ?

I don't think the doctors would take the risk of such an injury, if he's skating, it's that he can skate and if he plays it's that he can play...

It seems that Spacek has a labyrinthitis...the more he's skating, he's getting involved in the game, the more he feels dizziness...so that's the problem with him sadly

imagine our blueline with markov spacek gill damn!! Next year should be promising

If he tore his ACL, it's not like he can tear it worse. Though I suppose there's a risk he could injure something else.

let's just hope he can play ok at that level.. Hard to keep up with Sydney on one leg..

IMO, used Markov on the PP and against the worst trios to give him the bast chance to score. The Habs problem is more scoring than anything right now....

You're right on the money! He can't make a torn ACL any worse. It's just a matter of whether the knee brace gives him enough stability to be able to play. Surgery (if necessary) would come after the season.

I'd take my chances with Markov at 10% over Bergeron at 100%. He may not be able to skate well, but he'd still help tremendously clearing our zone and setting up on the power play*.

*should we actually get one

As long as I'd like him to be back, I hope they don't rush him back. Let's be honest, even with Markov in the lineup, we're still looking at a 3-2 deficit against a very good team, it's still a longshot for us. Especially since the guys are obviously tired from this series and the Capitals series. With all the injuries Markov has had in the last two seasons, the last thing I would want the Canadiens to do is to take a chance with him. You never know what could happen, he might get hurt again and have permanent damage, or it might make him more injury prone for the next seasons... He's our best player, we need him in the lineup next year and the years after.

They are testing his leg in case the Habs play another series.

They want to know if he would be good enough to play somewhere down the road in 6-9 days, instead of asking him to get a surgery right now.

As much as I want Markov back..I really don't want him to play if he's not healthy. Pens will be hitting him hard and you know the goons will be gunning for that knee. I'd rather Spacek and Gill in...sit MAB.

No. Just keep MAB on the fourth line and put him on PP. If Spacek or Gill have to leave during the ghame because of their illness/injuries, at least there is an extra d-man.

This whole triple D injury thing is pretty tragic and unlucky.

The Pens are beatable...

and detestable in so many ways.

I don't believe it's torn myself. I've had third degree sprains though where I couldn't even touch the ground with my leg because it hurt too much. I hope his was a second degree sprain that healed up a bit. He might be able to play in that case.

Spacek will probably play Monday

Par ailleurs, il semble que Jaroslav Spacek sera en mesure de reprendre sa place dans la formation lundi, lui qui était incommodé par un puissant virus.

Markov is just practicing and resting up to play for team Russia. He doesn't care about the team...
