I like what I seen. Solid chemistry from the top 2 lines, young guys like Russell and Cumiskey were great, good special teams, good goaltending. If this team could improve on board play and ease up on the hail mary passes they could really impress.
I've seen it in previous threads. It'll happen later on in the tournament for sure.
Every year a few of us have to defend the IIHF tournaments and how they're performed. What some people question is why Canada has to be bothered by playing teams like Italy and Denmark, when really it's used as a measuring stick for the smaller countries, and results can occur as we saw yesterday with Germany. Germany's a bit different than Italy and Denmark, of course, but you get my point. This also happens quite a bit at the U20 tournaments when Canada is rolling over teams like Latvia 16-0. It's not for Canada's sake, it's for the development of Latvian hockey. However, a lot of people don't realize this and think the tournaments should be cut down to fewer teams, which would be the IIHF shooting itself in the foot.
I have never heard anyone say that. What are you talking about?
A good start to the tourney. Nice to see the younger guys play.
Well I was at the game and I'm a bit disappointet that Canada played a lazy game. It was fun that there were so many Germans who cheered for Canada. There were Canada flags everywhere. On the other hand this game makes me feel bad about our own league. The level from Canada was pretty high and they hit pretty well, too. It'll be frustrating to see the low DEL-level again when the WC is over.
hes the best goalie in italy so why wasnt he even dressed ??????
I would imagine they wanted to give Russo and Bellisimo a chance to play against the homeland. I would expect Tragust to be back in next game. Russo is a decent goalie and Bellissimo flashed against Canada so I don;t think Tragust would have made any difference in this game.
