9 (My fav NASCAR driver), 10 (random, assigned), 13 (didn't have 33), 28 (didn't have 33), 33 (had my best year with it, just stuck with it), 88 (very first number, assigned).

33 is my favourite.

11 because of Owen Nolan

12 if 11 is unavailable, because of Patrick Marleau

Cool topic, lemme chime in...pretty sad I remember all this, but here goes:
Developmental hockey # 88 (assigned)
First year of travel hockey # 21 (assigned)
Every subsequent year of travel hockey # 32 (for Dale Hunter, whom I aspired to be)
High School # 12 (assigned to me)
Stopped playing in leagues after high school because I was burned out/hockey stopped being fun. If I ever start up again I'd take either 19 (Nicklas Backstrom) or 20 (Luc Robitaille).

If I get a choice, it's 42. It's the answer.

I just started in my first league and I wear 42 for the same reason. It's the answer to life, the universe and everything!

97 -- month and day of birth. I only finally got to wear it when I started playing ice hockey at 22, though I used it in video games when creating my player since NHL 96 for the Super Nintendo.

Jeremy Roenick had been the only player wearing it that I remembered during the 90s, unfortunately it was only once he was traded to Phoenix. It seems pretty rarely worn, despite being 9 and 7, coveted numbers of historically great players.

First number ever? Assigned 9 for soccer at the age of 5.

I was assigned 8 in my first baseball game at age 6. Then first number in rollerhockey in 1991 was 8. My birthday is in august of 1980. My first truck was an 88 fourrunner. I was 8 when my parents got divorced. I got married on august 8, 2008. I have the number 8 tatooed on my arm in one of my octopus arms.

It's an obsession.

11 is my preference in ice hockey, I play centre. Not sure why I like 11, just do.

I have played a season on defence wearing number 6 when I was younger.

In roller hockey the numbers are somewhat randomly assigned and I have worn 9, 7, 33.

I am thinking about switching my number of preference from 11 to 28 since I was born on June 28th and many fan favourite leafs have wore number 28 (Domi, Orr).

In house league I was always #2 or #3. The jerseys came in order from 1 to about 16. #1 was always the biggest for the goalie... then from #2 downwards they always got smaller. I was usually the biggest or second biggest guy on the team, so I got it by default.

When given a choice I take 26 or 24.

I had two other buddies who played with me..

One was very very good, and he was number 9.
My other buddy was number 7, he is my dedicated playmaker.
I was number 11.

So we'd either be 7-11... 7 would open up, 11 would close. Or, we'd be 9-11... call when you're in danger.

yeah we're lame, but it makes a good laugh at the bar

Never played hockey but when I played soccer I was #13 because it was supposed to be an unlucky number.

9 - growing up because of my uncle (big Gretzky fan but 99 was taken) and Mike Modano.

67 - first year of rec league, seemed like a cool number.

16 - summer league, because of Brett Hull.

Currently wearing #9 the last couple years because that was always my number.

Mine has been 19 my entire life. Yzerman and Sakic were always my favorite players, hence 19.

Started with 87 about 20 years ago, then Cindy ruined it for me, so I switched to 93.
