Probably shouldn't have said consultant because he would likely do that in order to get in with another team. Assistant GM'ing? I'm just not sure he would want to serve as another man's second.

It would be good for the team to have him around in some capacity though.

Jeff Solomon will be promoted if Hextall departs. Gretzky shouldn't be making hockey decisions. Having him in an advisory role much like how Chicago used Scotty Bowman is a more logical move.

I know nothing about Solomon besides what the La Kings profile says. What makes you think Solomon would be next in line?

He handles contracts, has been an agent, and we've seen how successful some clubs like Vancouver have been in hiring a former agent to take over as General Manager. Brian Burke and Dean Lombardi were also former agents, so something to consider.

It's a great idea to have one of the greatest hockey players ever involved. The question is, how involved.

Assistant GM? No. An advisor? Maybe. Gretzky may not be a good GM, Assistant GM or Head Coach, but he can serve a role.

Dude! Lions are KINGS of the jungle (as stated above). They are at the top of the food chain and gets to mate with as many females as he wants, too.
