"What if Bieksa stayed home?"
The irony is mind blowing.

I would rather of had Sundin than Demo for the last two years.

I remember reading earlier in the year, an interview with Kesler. He said that the Canucks had more desire this year and played better all around because of the impact Mats Sundin made on the team last year. He said the fact he was the first on on the ice and gave it his all, and took all the media scrutiny on his shoulders and worked his hardest like a true leader. He said that's what motivated the team this year, and which is probably why they all had such good years. That is also why I believe we need to give him the 'C' next year.

Gillis made a great move signing him in retrospect. A point a game player with great leadership qualities. Too bad Demitra signed and didnt get either Marian or he would have tried.

As per Mitchell, he needs to stay away and not be a distraction. If he showed up and gave invaluable advice, that is what he needs to do. Give them inspiration and get their heads back in the game.

...and not only that, you should have seen the teams he did it with. But, from your posts around here, I know that one will go right over your head.

Thought it was funny that Mats was calling Roberto "Lalongo" a la Cherry...
Obviously knows how to pronounce Luongo's name but maybe having a bit of fun...

Willie Mitchell's condition isn't good enough to captain a ship right now.

It sounds like Sundin hadn't speak English for a while.

I try to think of English as a living language where grammar and words live and die by the amount of usage, but that's way worse than "Lalongo".

Bieska bashing

I get sick of people bashing the team. Whiners have wanted to get rid of virtually every defenseman at one point or another this year. Yes, bieska got beat on the play. BFD. For the most part the D has played reasonably well, considering that we are missing our most experienced Dman and go into tonights game missing 2 of them (I don't think anyone expects to see the one ball guy out there). Alberts has played reasonably well.

As AV has said, you can never have to many defensemen.

well AV is not the GM and doesn't manage the salary cap. You CAN have too many overpaid inconsistent dmen that bring their A-game once every 20 games or so.

Bieksa had one of his best games in game 5, but don't forget the Bieksa we've had for most of this season and playoffs. When he brings his A-game, his total package makes him a valuable top-4 guy who can be a difference maker on the ice... the majority of time he doesn't even bring his C-game, he ends up being a liability that sucks up too much cap space.

If he was making Rome/Alberts money, I'd have an easier time with his inconsistencies... at that current price, AV is right, you can't have too many dmen. At $3.75mill, Bieksa simply has to be more consistent or he's hurting the team.

Bieksa plays the way he played in game 5 then maybe we would have won game 2 (not saying it was his fault we lost the game but a better game from Bieksa might have given us that extra goal we needed). We win game 2 then who knows how the rest of the series goes.

A good defencemen doesn't bring his A game once every 3 or 4 games.

If Luongo gets bumped, he needs to channel his inner Sub Zero.

Nah. Just, like someone pointed out, a product of him not speaking English for a while. You could tell the "Swenglish" on a few occasions, such as "They have other great players, EXCEPT, the Sedins...," as opposed to using a more proper "besides."

Also in the end of the interview when talking about eventually coming back to hockey, he got caught up and stumbled a little bit as he caught himself going down the wrong road with his sentence structure and wording.

He might have been a bit jet lagged becasue the interview was full of little "Swenglish" pearls, and like someone said, if you don't use it you lose it. Announciation goes first, wording is a close second, while grammar hold for quite some time. At least that's my experience.

He returned to tell stories of when his Minnesota Wild came back from 3-1 down against a cocky arrogant team who mocked them after going up 3-1.

I heard that in my truck on the Team 1040.

They also said that Chicago has bagged extra bags in anticipation of heading straight to San Jose after tonight's game.

What would be awesome is if they put Mitchell in someone else's gear.... and as Toews comes by the bench, defensive pairings change and Mitchell comes on and hip checks the living daylights out of him... like a WWE match.. I watch too much t.v.
