This.

But Emelin is still pretty good. I don't know where they'd put him though.

i'd say putting him where hamrlik is a good choice, if only to save money.

There's absolutely no spot on the LD next season.

So its either he signs and plays in Ham... or he does like always and stays in Russia.

That's not a problem: You create him some room.

The kid has been stellar in the last KHL playoffs, he found his offensive game on this level, and he's a physical beast. He hits to hurt. He would bring a whole other element to our d-core.

I like O'Byrne, and still think he's got the physical attributes to become a very good physical d-man, but you just can't learn/buy yourself a mean streak. Ryan doesn't have it in him. Emelin HAS it.

Bring him over, play him from time to time, around 12-15 minutes per game to start the season, let him mature and being mentored by Markov and as the season progresses, give him more responsibilities.

Always loved this prospect.

He's not waiver elligible. So he could be our top callup.

But then again, Markov, Gorges, Gill and Spacek are pretty much the only locks to be back next year. Subban and OB should be in the lineup, but I don't see why he wouldn't get a shot at fighting for a spot with these 2 at the very least. He was stellar in a pretty good league, so if he's an upgrade over any players we currently have in the top 6, why the hell would you not play him?

The Hamrlik situation needs clearing, but if they want to re-sign Pleks and the RFAs, I guess he'll be moved/bought-out.

Wow, if this happens I will be very shocked, but very happy.

Korneev would be even better, but that's extremely unlikely.

I think he is 24 now. That would definitely relieve my worries of our mostly aging defense if he makes the team next year.

Well, with

Markov
Gorges
Gill
Spacek
Hammer
Obyrne
Subban

we have 7 D to play next year, we can assume one of Hammer/Spacek will likely be traded in offseason, we still are at 6 D....Ok Obyrne might not be elite, but hes doing a good job, showing some progression, I just dont get how we can get rid of him...25yo still

Korneev is what we have in Markov, Subban, Weber and somewhat Carle along with the potential in Bennett.

Emelin we have in O'bryne...

Hmmm I haven't followed Emelin the past 1-2 years, but he was a lot meaner than O'Byrne. Emelin was a pain to play against ...
