Hawks Conn Smythe of the Playoffs Through the First Two Rounds

In your opinion, who is the MVP so far through the first two rounds of playoffs? I'm not sure why, but I keep finding myself asking this question while I watch the game.

Some of my thoughts on this:

Toews is leading the league in playoff points this year. It's hard to argue against him. But, when some of his points are in game blowouts, are they really *that* important?

Yet, if I were to discuss the MVP of round two, I'd have to give it to Byfuglien. He took the Canucks out of games 3 & 4. And, I would feel that way *without* the hatty.

Do you give a nod to Niemi? In my opinion, no. A save percentage of .909 will need improvement if the Hawks are going all the way.

I'm guessing Toews will be the obvious answer here, but I'd love to see thoughts and opinions on it.

Hossa has been the most consistent player even if it doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Toews overall, Buff in the 2nd round.

Edit - Keith!

I don't want to think about the Conn Smythe until the playoffs are over.

My problem with Hossa is some of the really untimely penalties. He is killing me with them!

I'll take his penalties due to his aggressive back check.

To this point I gotta say Seabrook. He had the Canucks twitchy and made some big plays when it counted. Nashville series is a bit trickier to call but for this series at least the big Sea was the star out there.

They wouldn't be blowouts if he wasn't scoring.

Toews for sure, so far.

Probably not even a close vote.

Okay, but my point being that blowouts don't dictate the win. You would have to stick with a "momentum" argument instead.

Buffy has played what, like 3 solid games?

Toews, Keith, Hossa, Kane, Niemi.

One of those games he won nearly singlehandedly. On his own, Hossa almost cost us a series.

and then won it! No one aside from Toews puts out better effort on the ice than Hossa.

Sopel and Madden put up just as much effort, they just don't accomplish much. Effort isn't what counts.

I'm going to have to agree with BWC. I'll even add two more.

1. Toews
2. Seabrook
3. Niemi
4. Kane
5. Sharp

Hossa's been great mostly, but a little too careless at times. I would also like to give an honorable mentions to Keith and Bolland, who I'm appreciating more and more as the playoffs go on.

Surprised nobody has mentioned hammer. He had a few struggles against Vancouver, and did well at other times. Against Nashville he may have been our best player. But I know defensemen don't always get the flashy press.

I would go with Toews overall.

Hossa has played very well 2 way hockey, but I see 2 problems. The dumb penalties he's taken the last few games. And his shot looks really weak compared to the regular season. What happened to that wickedly quick wrist shot we saw all year? It seems slow and right in to the goalies gut every time these days.

Toews, so far.

About Hossa... I see he's trying and working hard, hopefully he will put up some points.
