I forgot how much I loved Pavelich. He had great skills. Was strong as an ox.
One moment stands out to me. He and Nystrom were chasing a puck and both braced themselves for the hit. Pav sent him flying, got the puck, curled around the net and stuffed it in. One of my wow moments of Rangers fandom.
I always admired the way he left the game on his own terms.

Random Fact: I am a vegetarian, and have never eaten meat in my life. I also lived in Israel for a while, and was invited to represent Team USA in an international ice hockey tournament that fielded teams from Israel, Canada, France, Russia, and America. I think Ethan Werek played in this tournament for USA, and Oren Eizenman (Canucks prospect) played for Israel, along with many other DI players/prospects. Unfortunately I didn't take up this offer because bringing my gear with me would have been too much of a hassle (limit to bags, and I was there for quite some time). I'm also taking the Foreign Service Officer Exam in October which hopefully will open up some doors to international diplomacy, which is what I'd like to do for a career.

good to see another expat Rangers fan on the boards
I liked Langway when he was a Hab, but not so much as a Capital
and I agree about Staal, Dubinsky and Lundqvist but I would add Callahan
but mark pavelich is still by far my favorite ranger

Didn't mean to leave Callahan off the list, just forgot. I have a lot of favorite Rangers pre-94 but for me the current era started on that day. You're the man for the move to Japan!
Why do so many of you hate the Pens?
They are not a rival, not even close, to the Isles, Devils, Flyers, or Bruins.
Also, you lost an easy 5 game series to them...while OV beat you in 2009...so why not hate him?
Crosby was classy, OV mocked your goalie and tried to sit in on your practice...don't get why Crosby gets hated and OV gets a pass for far worse conduct.

I don't think Ovechkin really mocked Hank so much as said what any team leader would say: that Lundqvist is beatable (which they had shown quite effectively already), and that he can't be perfect EVERY game. I don't really care about the practice thing. That didn't bother me.
Diving all over the ice looking for calls and then *****ing about the officiating when they clearly got the benefit of the doubt throughout the series? That's why I hate the Penguins/Crosby.

I don't like any of Ovechkin, Malkin or Crosby. I do recognize that they're all great players though.
To be specific on each. In my eyes Ovechkin takes shifts off to go headhunting other players. He also has a knack for knee on knee hits and seems to think that all of his hits dangerous or not are legit hockey plays. He doesn't seem willing to back them up by facing off with guys he's cheapshotted either--that's always the job for one of his teammates.
Malkin is a much more occasional cheap shot artist but in the playoffs a couple seasons ago he slewfooted Paul Mara twice on one shift. I was never a big fan of Mara's but he had good reason to go after him and I've never cared for Malkin since. He had a blowup in a Cup final game against the Red Wings and he should have been suspended.
Crosby is a hard player to like if he's not on your team. A bit of diving, stickwork, a lot of whining to the refs. There is also the perception that he is the NHL glamor boy and a tool that the NHL bends over backward to sell its 'product'.

Couldn't have said it better. All three get away with more holding, interference and roughing than they are subjected to themselves. My dislike for the Pens began long before the Rangers series and has really intensified the last few years as IMO they get an incredible amount of favorable calls. In the Habs and Sens series, Malkin finally got an interference call when he actually got involved with Halak. He had been allowed to interfere with the d-men so much that he figured he could get away with it on the goalie in front of the ref!!! If the refs start enforcing the rules against Malkin, he will be nowhere near as successful.
heres something you may not knwo about me...my hockey team that I play on is playing for the championship in our division tonight. its double elimination, we havent lost yet, so if we win tonight, the goblet is ours..if we lose, we have one more crack at it.
Something else you might not know about me, I live in Richmond,Virginia now, So finding hockey fans is rare. I became friends with a group of guys at a local inline hockey rink all from pittsburg. They invited me to join their team called..... The Penguins.. I have been playing with them for two years now and I feel like a complete sellout everytime I put the jersey on.
