I also want to see Weise given a shot.
I also want to see Corey Locke given another shot. He needs to learn how to make due with that small stature.
Anyway, I've decided I'm pretty uninterested in Sharp/Byfug, but I still have interest in Versteeg, who is unfortunately, the least likely to be moved.
I think this is a team that would finish 6-8 in the east
Just some quick issues I have with that line-up:
- Zherdev is a RW.
- Lombardi is going to get a heck of a lot more then $3 million with there only being three good UFA centers (Marleau/Pleks are the other two).
- Volchenkov is looking for $5 million +.
- From the looks of it, Girardi is going to get more then $2.25 million (Although I don't agree, but it makes sense locking him up to something like 4 years $12 million).
- Rangers will try to lock up Staal to a longer-term deal, something like 4 or 5 years at $3.75 to $4 million per year.
- Don't see wise being ready for 3rd line duty.
- Where's MZA? lol

1) i just put the wingers wherever regardless of left or right i just did this quick
2) I'd go up to 3.25 for lombardi no more than that
3) if volchenkov wants more tell him to go f off
4) i have girardi at 2.55 which i think is reasonable i could see him getting like 2.75 though
5) i have staal at 3.5 i think well try to sign him on a deal that will take him until his last rfa year 4 to 5 years wouldnt make sense it'd make him a ufa.
6) uhh yeahh forgot mza haha but who knows if he will be signed, this is just something i'd like to see
Finesse stuff? Gabby, maybe Prospal if he's back, ditt for Christensen, MZA, and any combo of Frolov/Stemniak/Lombardi/Kariya/Demitria and dare I say Kovalchuk
At least the bottom two lines would be a royal pain in the neck to play against.
I really like this lineup and bonus points for not having Avery in it. The only thing I'd change is Drury goes down to the 4th line and either Lombardi/Frolov/Stempniak or Demitria or even Kariya for one year get added as a top 6 player.

I would LOVE to see both Byers and Weise on the Rangers next season. Both play with a lot of heart and go to the dirty areas, something lower line players should do.
I dont agree with acquiring Byfuglien though. He is making too much money for a player scoring 30-40 points. I know he can be a physical presence but I wouldnt move much for him. Also, MZA on the 1st line may be a bit wishful thinking.
Then you saw a bad game. No way in hell do I move Sanguinetti for Sharp who is about 30 and not a #1 center.
Sangs did fine last year, he got much better defensively. I'm hoping since he knows what to expect from a Torts training camp that he comes in and kicks you know what and can earn a 3rd pair role. He actually plays pretty physical for an offensive minded guy thanks to JJ Daigneault.
I still think Versteeg should be the target. He's versatile enough to play almost anywhere in the top-9 and has more upside than people seem to be willing to give him credit for.
I think he'll crack the 30 goal mark within the next two years. 53 points last year and followed it up with a pretty solid sophomore campaign. I'd imagine he'd be the cheapest of the 3 to acquire.

Versteeg actually played about half of Bolland's time hurt at C.
He was solid , Nothing special but he did play C this year
He can play either wing great and if needed can be a serviceable C when injuries occur
I think you are wrong on value though. I think Byfuglien will be cheapest one
Steeger I think will end up in Pittsburgh for there 1st rounder. I dont think the Pens can continue to try and plug in guys like Fedetnoko in there top 6 and get away with it. It hurt them this year
