Ryan Parent Appreciation Thread

Parent is so sexy. During his earth shattering 8 minutes average TOI he silences defenders. He puts fear in the eyes of the opposition and lust in the eyes of their wives.

The smooth skating elite defensive prospect(?) will rise again next season and prove to be the force he was once sought to be. I just hope it is here with the Philadelphia Flyers and not on any other team in the east.

Here's to #77 and hoping Game 2 of the ECF was the sign of more good things to come from Parent.

Right now without Parent the flyers are golfing. My how we all forgot the season saving play he made in boston. Continue with the hate though.

I thought he has been doing a decent job. We don't want to give up on young defensive prospects too soon.

He's got some decent beard-growing skills.

He'd be fine in my eyes but complete inability for outlet passes destroys the 3rd pairing. Krajicek ALWAYS has to look for a stretch pass or some other option, he knows if he goes for a D-to-D, the puck will be turned over.

Defensively Ryan is very capable of shutting down elite forwards, though.

Sounds like one half of a capable third pairing to me.

He is doing his job and that's all you can ask. He's not a top 4 defenceman and people give him grief for that which is totally unfair, he is very young, hasn't played enough to be thrown away, and can only learn from Pronger and Timonen. No way should Philly toss him aside at such a young age.

I wouldn't be opposed to letting him continue to develop on the 3rd pairing next season, but the guy has no place in our top 4 at this point.

He is terrible with the puck, and is not nearly the skater I thought he would be when we acquired him from Nashville. I think his usefulness is as a league minimum Defenseman that eats up a few minutes a night and keeps us under the salary cap. We should have played Bartulis.

Imagine how epic he'd be playing next to Chris Pronger. Can you say....HoF?

I like the kid. Third pairing but he is young and I really think he'll get much better. Having an off season to get his strength back after disc surgery will be huge for him. As for the outlet passing, he is only 23 y/o so while he'll never be Bourque I think he will be a good 3-4 dman. Plus he'll be cheap since he doesn't put up big offensive numbers.

I agree. He isnt flashy, which is why a lot of people wont appreciate him. He needs to seriously put on some muscle, but otherwise I am happy with his play in the little bit of time he is given a chance....He shouldnt cost a lot this offseason cause of all his injuries and I rather have him on a 3rd pairing then rush someone else from the phantoms or sign some journeyman....

Parent is living in the shadows of his draft placement. The guy doesn't do anything well. He can't move the puck, is consistently lost in his own zone, isn't physical, is prone to headscratch inducing brainfarts and has no offensive ability whatsover. Parent has shown nothing at the NHL level. Oh wait, he was good in juniors.

That is about all the credit I will give him.

I still hate him and I hope we can get him the hell outta here and get Schneider for him in a trade with Vancouver.

Any chance we can trade you as a fan to Vancouver? Parent is amazzzinngggggggggggggg. Dont be upset because you decided to take a stand and hate Parent and then he turned out at the end of this season to be more than anyone could ask for and now ya cant say anything nice about him.

Im never gonna say anything nice about him to begin with but that is besides the point. And is there a specific reason you didnt call anyone out who backlashed him.

Had to be me right?

because of a single game in which he played a total of what?.....a whopping 9 minutes....... lets all jump the Parent bandwagon.

You and JSTAFF go have your fun Parent circle jerk while you gaze through the numerous posters you two have up in your rooms and admire the lack of ability that he brings to the team.

Im sure it gets you guys of no problem.

Marshall, I am sure, will be just as physical since thats the way he plays, and will be able to bring some sort of an offensive game that Parent lacks, terribly.

What makes you think that, his earth shattering nine points?
