That line has been deadly. Kulemin's hard work/defensive game, plus Afinogenov's skill. Works well.

Making "several amazing saves" doesn't matter when you follow them up by flubbing an easy one.

Canada has ZERO chance with goaltending like that. Worst tending of any team in the tournament as a whole.

Weak call if it was, Perry was the one delivering the hit.

Man i always thought Mason was a good goalie(though i don't often get to see him play). But he has been letting in terrible goals every game..

Afinogenov scores, 1-0 Russia. Kulikov and Atyushov with the assists. Wristshot from the faceoff-point, Mason got a piece of it but the puck trickled in. Canadians gave too much room for Afinogenov.

Emelin crosschecks Downie and goes to the box. Stamkos called for boarding at 20.00, didn't see it.

First period over, 1-0 Russia.

Kulemin's so strong on his feet. Really makes it hard to play against him.

I'm impressed by Canada playing.

Typical hockey gods and refs no penalty call for Perry, and should have been two minors for both Canada and Russia. Then one goal with only a minute left to go. How unlucky can you get.

Stamkos just cancelled out Canada's power play. What an idiot, he should be scoring instead of being a idiot.

Get over your Perry-hate. He was going to the puck, got elbowed by a player who wasn't playing the puck whatsoever... Was a bad non-call.

All pressure is on Russia in this game. If Canada loses no one will bother to notice, but if Russia fails there will be a big fuss about it. Id love to see Bykov kicked out, but he'll probably stay no matter how team finishes this tournament.

Pretty boring period. Hope that goal will wake Canada up. No matter if they're B, C, D or Z, these guys hate to lose.

Yeah, suprised?

The kid dives as much as anyone in the hockeyworld, and seems to be a pain in the rear type too.

I also want to see Stamkos score instead of gooning it up. He was involved in almost every scrum in the 1st period.

Is there any way that this game can end without a big brawl.

An entertaining match, Canada looks very inspired. I didn't catch the penalty on Stamkos but the Swedish commentators said it was a terrible call, in the sense that the ref should've let it slide.

The difference between MacTavish and Andy Murray/Bacbcock.
Tavish use your top scoring talent to get into scrums.

im surprised how close that first period was actually, if canada could keep its composure they would still have a PP

missing ryan smyth to keep the boys in check

im still guessing 4-1 russia, maybe more
