I think a lot of people had the same feeling that the Flyers were going to lose tonight but I was expecting a tight game.

The Habs scored 5 goals tonight, but 3 of those were the direct result of the 1st pairing playing awful - including the first 2. There's no way this will happen again.

Glen Healy calling Coburn slow was hilarious.

We fare well in afternoon games, hoping for a big W on saturday.

Our D was so sloppy.

Was Hartnell's fight in the last 2 minutes of the game? If so, isn't that a suspension? Since it's a playoff game.

Flyers couldn't get into the Habs zone for longer than a few seconds. It didn't matter where the Flyers were playing tonight, there was no getting around or through the Habs. They were one step ahead all night. Solid game by the Habs, Halak looked like he was back to his normal self...plain and simple, Flyers were outplayed.

The NHL makes up rules as it goes along so he should be fine.

Those are the clauses within the Official Rules Book:

Quote:
47.12 Instigator in Final Five Minutes of Regulation Time (or Anytime in Overtime) - A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five (5) minutes of regulation time or at any time in overtime shall be assessed an instigator minor penalty, a major penalty for fighting, and a game misconduct penalty
Quote:
During the Play-offs, any player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation for the second time shall be suspended automatically for the next Play-off game of his team. For each subsequent instigator violation during the Play-offs, the automatic suspension shall be increased by one game.
Quote:
47.22 Fines and Suspensions – Instigator in Final Five Minutes of Regulation Time (or Anytime in Overtime) - A player or goalkeeper who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five (5) minutes of regulation time or at anytime in overtime, shall automatically be suspended for one game. The Director of Hockey Operations will review every such incident and may rescind the suspension based on a number of criteria. The criteria for the review shall include, but not limited to, the score, previous incidents, etc. The length of suspension will double for each subsequent offense. This suspension shall be served in addition to any other automatic suspensions a player may incur for an accumulation of three or more instigator penalties.

When the one-game suspension is imposed, the Coach shall be fined $10,000 – a fine that will double for each subsequent incident.

No team appeals will be permitted either verbally or in writing regarding the assessment of this automatic suspension.

Remember Guerin last year? Still makes me wonder how he wasn't suspended.

I expected a loss. They'll be ready come Saturday. And I think the Flyers get either Lappy or Carter back, maybe both.

The bias of CBC is sickening. Bob "Senile" Cole is awful and Healy and Galley want the Canadiens to win so badly they practically tell us during the broadcasts.

Exactly what I was thinking. Great post.

You could tell in game 2 that after their run of 5 wins they thought they could cost through the rest of the playoffs.

Somebody had to remind them that the cup hasn't been won yet. I'm glad it was an ass kicking, and not a OT victory or something of that nature.

Flyers will win the series in 6 as I predicted. There's no panic in the Flyers' room at all. They'll be way better on Saturday. Count on it.

Lapierre is selfish, mugging for when the camera is on the bench. Big talk and gay antics from a solid 7-goal man.....and a slick -2 in these playoffs. He's along for the ride.

Habs cut the Flyers' series lead in half and Montreal is ready to celebrate a Stanley Cup win right here and right now.

If anyone ever wants to question Richards' leadership again....

http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|PHI|home

Quote:
Richards was quickly out of the locker room and the first player to speak with reporters.

“That was an ass-kicking. They handed it to us right from the get-go,” he said. “I don’t know if we thought we just had to throw our sticks on the ice and it was going to be easy, but give them credit. They played hard. They were all over the ice, they won every puck battle, and obviously it shows with the score.”

Richards thinks his club may have been a little over-confident. In fact, the captain was not all that impressed with the first two games of the series, either, despite the 9-0 combined score.

“Maybe we got a little cocky or a little full of ourselves just thinking we could go out there and play,” he said. “This was a long way coming. We didn’t play all that well the first couple of games and relied heavily on our power play, and our five-on-five play wasn’t the greatest, either. Like I said, that was just a beat-down.”

Was this game a wake-up call for the club?

“It better be. I’m not calling anyone out. It’s myself leading, it’s going out on the ice and playing for it instead of just going out there and hoping.

“You always say you want to move on after a game and forget about it, but hopefully we can take this bitter taste in our mouths and bring it the next game.”

Richards seems ready to do everything in his power to make sure that Game 4 is not a repeat of Thursday night.

“It’s my responsibility being the leader and the captain of this team that we were not ready to play. It’s got to change, and obviously, in a hurry.”

I was damn pissed and sad right after the game but thanks to funny MTL fans on the mainboards - I'm starting to feel a bit better

There will be a war on ice at saturday, I expect Richie with a Howe hatty.

I hope there's a video of this that comes up. If anyone comes across one, please post it.

I didn't see it tonight...missed about the first half of the game because of work, saw til about half way through the third, and started focusing on other things because I expected this to happen.

I think I was so alright with it that I didn't mind missing most of tonight, not being sure to have it recorded. I'm not worried at all about this series. After everything that's happened this year, this team gives no reason to become suspicious of them after such a performance. They get it right now.
