Quite simply, he was to bad/Malmö wanted to use their 2 non-EU player spots for better players: Shawn McEachern and Brett McLean.

McLean might not be better, but he has played with Malmö for a couple of months more than Mowers.

Alot of NHL:ers have come to the SEL and simply hasnt been cutting it, not even in the worst teams in the entire league. Dunno if thats says anything about the standard of alot of NHL:ers or the fact that the sel is pretty good now a days

Problem is that most of these guys haven't been playing regularly since last season and then they're going over to teams with players that've been playing 3-4 months of hockey and a couple of games a week, who are used to playing games

so it takes about 5-10 games for these nhl-ers to get used to the tempo and of course the big rink too

Mowers is doing a nice job in Fribourg. We have to fight for staying the highest league, and he is helping us very much. In 8 games he made 5 goals and 5 assists!

But his pregnant wife is in Boston, and as soon as she will become her baby, Mark is leaving us for 4-5 days and after that he returns....

I can understand such a thing making him want to fly back
