BTW-

Was listening to Quenville the other day on XM (a press conference on a practice day I believe) and a reporter made a comparison of David Bolland being like Dale Hunter. He asked Joel to comment since he'd played against Hunter.

Joel first off said he did play with Hunter (in 89) briefly as well and that while there are similarities that Hunter was FAR more abrasive.

We could use a player like Bolland who bring some fiesty in his game along with strong D play and chipping in offensively.

Dale was probably the better offensive player and playmaker while Bolland had him beat on D. Hunter was indeed far more nasty.

Bolland is a nice player and since he is only 23 he has a lot of time to get even better but I'm sorry at this point that contract is not a good one.

Twitter ****:
Cammalleri on Carlson : "I'll tell you, I was so impressed by him. I think he'll be a great player. I think he's a stud..."

and Varlamov getting legit

"Perry and Downie played dirty. Downie's last name is justified." Varly hints that Downie has a Down syndrome. Ouch!

I don't know if anyone's watched much of the Worlds but Varlys played great in the games I've seen

Sounds like he's sticking around through this draft. You'll have to wait to find out

Not just Finland. Jokerit. That's Nyls's team. You think he wants Nyls?

Did you see the 2nd goal? Total fluke job tip in.

First one was on him...but not the second.

You just have it out for the kid.

no...i don't have it out for the kid. he's a kid. its a reality thing. i didnt see the last flyers v habs game. i just heard it described on nhl live. montreal had 7 sog in the first period and leighton had to make some nice saves. varly, instead, misses one and its game over.

montreal advanced largely because varly missed a couple of stoppable shots per game and because fleury was worse. leighton is not giving them those goals and montreal is getting nothing.

i think in time varly improves and that doesnt happen again.

meanwhile because the goaltending was somewhat rookie esque many around here are taking the lost series as proof that the team is fundementally flawed and "needs a shakeup".

after watching the pens vs montreal, the caps beat pittsburgh. i dont want to see the team change direction based on a rookie being a rookie.

Varlamov was 4-1 with a shutout in his five games, and he posted an impressive .951 save pct. and an awesome 1.41 GAA.

How much better do you want him to be?

Score 1 goal and you lose, more like it.

2 Goals against should be good enough to win for most teams, at least on average (which means nothing in a single elimination tourney, obviously, but since you were also talking playoffs...)

He only gave up 2 goals...Both teams(The Caps and Russia) have plenty of offensive fire power and should be able to score more then 1 goal.
