Chris Higgins

Clearly the guy was gripping the stick too tightly in his brief stay in gotham.

How would the HF rangers community feel about bringing him back at a discounted price ?

say a million bucks. Thats what Voros makes.

I mean as long as he isn't blocking a guy like Weise or Byers why not ?

He has decent speed, back checks and pots the occasional goal

I would be all over that. Bringing him back would mean he would have 7 20-goal scorers ... again.

On a serious note, didn't work 1st time around so why try again.

I wanted Higgs to succeed so bad when he was here
Maybe as a stop gap but I can't see him resigning with the Rangers.

@1M, he's a steal imo.

Higgins is a good hockey player. Dude somehow forgot how to bury his chances. What I liked about him though, was he managed to create opportunity's, unlike most of his peers.

I think there's about a 99% chance he doesn't sign here lol .We traded him out west, months after we Sather signed him. I think that says a lot about what the Rangers think of Higgins.

The problem with that theory is that he sucked just as much in Calgary as he did with the Rangers. 3 pts in 12 games.

Let it go. If the guy wasn't from Long Island this wouldn't even be a discussion right now. There are players in Hartford that can give you exactly what he does. There are players in the park down the street from me that can give you exactly what he does.

20 goal guy? In his last 136 games he's scored 28 goals total.

If there's one thing this organization doesn't need right now, it's Chris Higgins.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned--we've been there--we've done that. Didn't work--let it go.

Higgins was a solid soldier, I love the heart the kid has, and I think he plays a very effective game at doing everything but putting the puck in the back of the net.

With that said, we have more than enough guys who can run around and make stuff happen who whiff on wide open goal scoring opportunities. We need GOAL SCORERS...we dont need muckers, grinders, or anything like that. We need ELITE offensive talent. give me Kovalchuk, or else, stand pat with what we have and develop the kids.

This actually entered my mind yesterday for some reason. I wouldn't be totally against it, but we already have the guys to fill the role he would probably be playing here.

I'd imagine Calgary intends on trying to resign him if the price is right. so why would he leave a team that wants him for one that didn't?

There's really no room for another third liner on this team.

I agree about the goal scoring, but I don't think NY is going to land a 1 million dollar per season goal scorer unless he comes from the draft.

He likes NY , I see him signing with the Isles now. Hope he does well. He is a good 3rd liner if he just plays his game and relaxes

The bottom six is not the problem on this team.

What good could possibly come out of it, the off chance that he gets his **** together?

The minute this team stops relying on 2nd liners paid like 1st liners and projects having everything go right is the minute this team starts to head in the right direction.

Higgins was actually a solid player in his stint here, he just lacked finish.

But I think Prust can handle the role Higgins would have. If we're looking for a 13th forward slot on the roster, for 1 mil, sign me up.

He was pretty miserable by the end of his tenure with the Rangers; he got very quiet and not his jovial self.

I doubt he'd want to come back. Possible destinations: Florida, Tampa, Columbus, even the Islanders. Ie. any young rebuilding team who needs a decent veteran presence where he doesn't have pressure to be a primary scorer.

Also, as my friend pointed out, it got really old how the first three months of the season were the "Chris Higgins is working so hard in all aspects of the game but he can't finish.....and he's from Long Island" show.

Pass.

Chris Higgins is only a 20-goal scorer when playing with a legit playmaker. Otherwise, he's a 10-15 goal third liner. He ALWAYS blows scoring chances, he just used to get a lot more of them playing with the likes of Koivu and Kovalev.

Big no. Absolutely no reason to sign him.

I wouldn't be upset if we signed Higgins for 1 mil, but it's very unlikely and not even really worth discussing at this point

When it comes to third liners I prefer guys with size who really grind and can skate okay. The Higgins I saw last year is not a top two line player and he doesn't really fit IMO as a bottom liner. We can do better.
