Was listening to Quenville the other day on XM (a press conference on a practice day I believe) and a reporter made a comparison of David Bolland being like Dale Hunter. He asked Joel to comment since he'd played against Hunter.
Joel first off said he did play with Hunter (in 89) briefly as well and that while there are similarities that Hunter was FAR more abrasive.
We could use a player like Bolland who bring some fiesty in his game along with strong D play and chipping in offensively.
Dale was probably the better offensive player and playmaker while Bolland had him beat on D. Hunter was indeed far more nasty.
no...i don't have it out for the kid. he's a kid. its a reality thing. i didnt see the last flyers v habs game. i just heard it described on nhl live. montreal had 7 sog in the first period and leighton had to make some nice saves. varly, instead, misses one and its game over.
montreal advanced largely because varly missed a couple of stoppable shots per game and because fleury was worse. leighton is not giving them those goals and montreal is getting nothing.
i think in time varly improves and that doesnt happen again.
meanwhile because the goaltending was somewhat rookie esque many around here are taking the lost series as proof that the team is fundementally flawed and "needs a shakeup".
after watching the pens vs montreal, the caps beat pittsburgh. i dont want to see the team change direction based on a rookie being a rookie.
