no they didn't, you have to read the signs. they make one street up from the stadium for hte PATH heading east and the other for the path heading west. They do this so the cars can get out of the parking lots. It's like that every game, people just walk instead of reading signs.
Wait, has this been implemented since the beginning of the season? I parked in the parking garage for the opening regular season game against Chicago and we must have waited like 2 hours before being able to get out.

Yes, since the mess that was that and the Santos match, they are now actually enforcing it. I don't drive so I can't say how effective it is, but they have actually had cops and other security people enforcing the barriers.
I lived in Paris for three years...may I ask where the Francomania is coming from? And have you been to the military museum at Les Invalides? Ignored by many, but the best historical stuff in Paris.
I did the stereotypical touristy things. The Eiffel tower, where I had a hard time convincing the family to not go to the top due to the long lines and since we already going to the top of Montparnasse skyscraper for the best views of the city. We had many picnics at the Tower and went to the night light shows almost every night.
I managed to get in 2 days at the Louvre but the kids were getting bored. The first day and a half were at Versailles. We saw the Arc, Montmarte, Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, etc.
I wanted to immerse myself and the family in French culture so we walked, explored, went to street fairs, dined in local cafes, bistros, shops, took the metro as much as possible.
I wanted to avoid American culture as much as possible. My stupid wife kept on going to Starbucks and the kids kept on getting excited whenever they saw a McDonalds. I did cave in for McDonalds as I wanted to see the menu (curious to see if they really did serve beer and I wanted to see the Royal with cheese from Pulp Fiction. It was also fun seeing the clueless look on my daughters when they got their French Happy Meals) Interestingly, I found out while I was there that McDonalds was enjoying a boom in France over the last 5 years and seems to be thriving in the ant-American, anti-globalization atmosphere that permeates Europe.
Also, when I broke the news that Paris Disneyland was not on the itinerary because I didn't spend thousands to go to France to see stupid Disneyland, there was a scene of screaming, crying, cold shoulder, I don't like daddy anymore, etc. , but we persevered.
I didn't get to go to the military musuem, an especial disappointment since I love military history. There was a lot of things I didn't get to see since we were there for only 6 days. Like I wanted to see the TGV race by at 300 mph, go to Normandy and see the D day landing sights, go to the French resistance museum in Lyon, see the German u-boat base at La Rochelle, etc.
Maybe next time. Although, most likely I will never probably never get back until the kids are out of the house.
Oh, and how did I get into this Francomania? I always enjoyed the French language, culture and history, but never managed to make it over there. Since I got to go there for business last July and took the family with me, I rekindled my interest.
There are also more shallow reasons for my Francophilia that stem back to a late 1980's Channel 13 public television eduactional series. See blonde Mirielle:
The team was absolutely awful tonight.. MLS play is noticeably different than other league, but tonight was brutal.. They botched any chances that they had
The playmaking between players here and in Europe is night and day
Many a times tonight which made me face palm
Only good news to come from tonight is the Henry rumors
This sums it up perfectly.
In soccer one has to be quick in player movements on the flank, using the width of the field. Red Bull players weren't even looking sideways when they got the ball during offensive plays. The Seattle defense had basically two thirds of the field to defend. I'm surprised because Hasse Backe is a coach who wants quick ball movement and lots of running without the ball (he used to be the coach of my favorite team in Sweden).
About the retarded detour coming out of the stadium I asked a policeman where to go and I followed his instructions exactly (which was "straiht ahead a to the right", so I don't think I got them wrong)
Hey guys - just thought I'd post my thoughts on the stadium after attending the Open Cup game vs. the Revolution last week.
The stadium is beatiful - would definitely like to make it out to another game. Seems like there's not a bad seat in the house, and even though the place was empty we just watched much of the second half from the concourse behind the lower bowl, which I'd imagine you can do if/when the place is packed.
It was really empty there (less than 2K as someone mentioned), but was cool how the crowd behind the goal chanted, sang & waived their flags throughout the entire match. The players were also good in acknowledging the crowd after the game.
Was easy to drive in & park by the arena for a respectable $10. I'd have some serious concerns about trying to leave though when there's a decent crowd on hand. Even with relatively nobody there, the line to exit the parking garage (or converted warehouse they made into the garage) wasn't moving at all. I noticed a few other cars exiting out the back (towards Red Bull Arena), which I did as well & saved me a ton of time. It gets you out to a road next to where the parking is & I was able to get onto 280 almost immediately.
There were only a few food stands open, but they seemed like they had a decent selection. Lots of Spanish / South American items on the menu - though the Chorizo sandwhich I had was disappointing. One small slab of choizo on a bun for $7.75. Seemed like the beer selection was different at each station too. Concourse seemed like it might get a bit tight, but was too tough to guage with such a small crowd. Was also interesting to hear Steve Cangelosi calling the game as you're walking around the concourse.
I dont get it. Why would Mr. Handball come to the Red Bulls. Is he washed up or something?
with hsi dribbling skills he is actually coming to play for the nets
actually, he's already won french league, english league, spanish league, champions league and all of the domestic cups. barca don't want him anymore and he loves new york - which he's stated many times. he scored 34 goals in all competitions 2 years ago but just 4 this past season.
I'm heartened to hear all the complements about the supporters, especially for those who checked out the NE-NY Open Cup game. That was fun if only because I'm pretty sure all 2,000 heard me scream "WE SAID YOU SUCK" after the traditional chant for goal kicks by NE near our end. I'll try to yell louder in the future.
Of course, you can't have streamers no more, likely due to the fact that morons in the supporters section throw them at random and during the Seattle-NY game, at players during a fracas between Lindpere and a Sounder. Not members of the groups, per se, but just guys who paid $20 to sit in the South Ward and acted like tools.

I don't think that Henry is washed up, he was just surplus requirements in Pep's eyes. I think he'll do terrific in MLS and RBNY. The only potential stumbling block is that he commented when he first moved to Barca that he was really missing his daughter and this is like 2k miles further away from her.
Only 11k paid attendance last night. The local news media is not getting the word out that there is a brand new soccer stadium in our area.
In fact, most of the guys that I work with were not aware of it and they are big sports fans.
Maybe if they called themselves Red Bull NJ more fans would plunk down their hard earned money, I would.

They way they go about selling tickets and marketing is an ultimate fail.. Worse than the Devils
The NY name is the way to go.. That name plays a large role in why Henry is coming here

I didn't know there was a new stadium in Harrison until today... and I live 15 minutes away. I haven't heard anything about a new stadium.

I'm pretty confident he'd still be aware the stadium is right next to Manhattan, even if the team were named the NY/NJ Red Bulls. Going with NY only, is just another slap in the face to New Jersey. New York Giants, New York Jets, New York Red Bulls. It's the reason I never became a Giants or Jets fan growing up. Screw em'.
When is Henry coming over? And how many games will be left in the season when he comes? I want to go to one but I'd like to know htat stuff and then I can worry about tickets and all that.

Word is after the World Cup, so July. MLS should be at about mid-season then I think. It help that MLS is breaking for the groups stage of the World Cup.

I agree, the vast majority of the fan base is from NJ, plus the State of New Jersey and Town of Harrison is funding the road improvements/etc, not a penny from the State of New York.
If NJ residents showed some sack for once we would not have teams play in our state and let them call themselves New York while we bend over backwards and cater to all of their needs.
Same reason with me, I was a Giants fan at an early age then changed to another team when I got old enough to realize not to support a team that wont use the NJ name.
I know most don't care and give the company line of "It's a NY area team and they came from NY" blah blah blah, but it does not sit right with me.
