That being the case, why not have some fun with the coincidences and recent publicity?

Those that this bothers can just steer clear of the thread.

On the other hand, if the Flyers should have bad luck... you all have a place to point your fingers.

They didn't miss a beat as they won the two rounds with the injuries. Their heart kept on beating strong.

Come on, guys, you are killing me here... Work with me on this, will ya?

As this thread was getting buried further and further down the list, I was kinda happy... It seems that some people were taking it as a jinx thread. Now I will have to live with it once again. LOL

GO, FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're going to need two big injuries in Chicago to win the Cup.

Destined for runner-up if not a miracle.

All mystic signs aside, neither you nor I have any ideal what the next couple weeks will bring. If the Flyers win out of the East, they have the chance to compete for the Cup... providing the games are allowed to be played. How the two teams play and how they are coached is just as important to the mix as injuries or lack thereof. If one team or the other plays above their abilities OR below their abilities, they may have an edge.

That said, the teams still in it have not had the experience as a unit to compete for the Cup in a Finals. And the Hawks or Flyers still may not even make it that far,,, but if they do, I would have to say that the Flyers coming back from being 3 goals down and 3 games down has to factor into their confidence and play. They may have become a close knit team than one who sailed through, even as underdogs.

Your trollish post may not have deserved such a serious and detailed response, an 'Oh yeah, says who?" one would might have sufficed... But my team deserved a logical response.

**** all of you who think we aren't able to compete with whoever comes out of the West and shame on you for calling yourself a flyers fan. Seriously, it is a disgrace to read "destined for runner up."

I'd say the same thing if we were sitting in the same room and how something that differs from the majority is necessarily a "trollish" remark is beyond me.

I'm pulling for the Flyers no matter what, but so far the persistence, depth, skill, and speed of the Blackhawks has been too much for anyone to handle and it's unlikely they will be stopped. For me, it's also a perfect underdog scenario--which is the best kind of victory to achieve in a final IMO.

The reason I called it trollish is because of what I began with; we can't see the future, saying to resign ourselves to runner up status (or words to that effect) is only said to stir up the natives here... unless you are just taking a defeatist stance and want us to keep you company.

If the two teams get that far, they have a shot if they play as well as they have shown they can play. They shouldn't be around in the ECFs if they were to believe in what almost everybody said and just up.

If they make the SCFs, I will stand by them and cheer them on... Remember that the Wings were not supposed to beat the Flyers in '97, but nobody told them that.

Blah! Blah! The best team wins. PERIOD

Flyers will put up a fight and so will the Blackhawks. This is why I love hockey. Two great teams vying for that common goal: Lord Stanley's Cup!

I don't fully agree with that. It at times is the team that works the hardest and either gets the most breaks, or makes their own breaks, that ultimately hoists the Cup. The Flyers IIRC were favored over the Wings in 1997, but the Wings won the first of their many Cups as the Flyers did not do what they had to do to win.

In 1976 Bernie Parent was injured and the Flyers were swept in four close games... The Flyers have had to play the Finals without Kerr and Propp, and the ECF without Desjardines and Kimmo... The Flyers need the breaks and need to create their own breaks in this Finals; they have overcome some bad breaks (literally, haha) and had a few breaks come their way. I love this team going into the series.

With that said, I suppose we can say that all that factors into being the best team in that moment of time... And I totally agree with you that I love the sport and that the two great teams will BOTH put up a great fight. The Flyers may be the underdogs going in officially, but I personally like their chances of coming out with the hardware.

... And if they do, those aligned stars will make a great story for decades to came.
