cant see sather not trying to add another top 6 player....maybe trading for a 1st/2nd line Center.
That would be really bad if Prust was playing on the 2nd line. The botton 6 should be:

Avery - Drury - Callahan
Shelley - Boyle - Prust

Top 6 should be:

Dubinsky - Christiansen - Gaborik
UFA - Anisimov - MZA

They really don't. The guy signed a $4 million contract, realized he wasn't performing at $4, and instead of saying "Oh well, pay me!" like most guys would, he said "I'm just not cutting it anymore" and retired. I'll always remember that.

Hard to find anything like that in professional sports.

dubi-christensen-gaborik
mza-anisimov-zherdev
avery-drury-cally
shelley-boyle-prust

extras: Brashear, Voros

Staal-Girardi

well gabs, cally, mza, voros, drury, dubi, anisimov, avery, boyle have contracts. prust def played well enough to get a contract, christ looks like he will be back. so unless we make a big trade, then i think our lineup looks very similar next year.

oh boy

hopefully this lineup means we made some serious upgrades on defense?

personally, im okay with it, but dont expect the offense to be improved

and id much rather throw that lineup out there with an upgraded blueline than throw 6mil+ at Plekanec

address the scoring next offseason if the options aren't available this year!

Great news, in this world you can't really be sure of anything unless its official.

Great cheap potentially top 6-forward for our club

And, as a norwegian, I'm very happy to see a fellow countryman on my team. Should be reeeaaallly cool

i dont think hes a top 6 player. its just that he played well with anisimov. hes a grinder and can fight which would be good for anisimov who isnt physical for his size and a guy that is 5'6".

its a very similar lineup to a team that finished a point behind the team in the stanley cup this year. its not a contender on paper, but its not the end of the world if we dont **** ourselves over long term this summer.

I think a Dubinsky- Anisimov- MZA line would be great and maximize all three's production.

More like, serious pay increases on defense.

If they resign all the RFA's, there isn't any cap space to upgrade anywhere until the season opens and you can demote Redden.

Nice! Whatever the reasons

Hopefully the Rangers will abstain from the UFA market. The only player who I wouldn't mind if the Rangers signed is Martin since he plays a lot of minutes and can also make our PP better. Not for crazy money though

you're allowed to go 10% over cap over the summer, including redden with this line up we'd only be 3.4 over then we can demote redden once the season starts and have 3 mill in cap space.

Prust over Cally...?

Hmmm, I actually really like that, getting a bigger feistier guy that we know Anisimov likes to play with cause he feels safer, and applying that also to MZA, while keeping depth decent with Cally and Avery on the 3rd...

I can see Voros and Boyle moving but past that I dont think we can move some of these guys for the following reasons.

Dubinsky - Wouldn't trade him for Heatley, don't see him going anywhere.
Christensen - For less than a mill... It's hard to beat that.
Gaborik - Duh
Prust - Really the only "Movable" one but the team seems to really like him, he loves NY and he seems to be hitting his stride while still having decent hockey to play
Anisimov - Do I really have to explain?
MZA - Just acquired him, worst thing that happens to him is AHL
Avery - Who wants to take Avery, were stuck with this guy till the end of time
Drury - Contract
Callahan - Too important to future

I can't see too much moving. If the team decides not to do a heavy weight or to replace them then we are sliding some guys out of Hartford (Weise/Byers) which I am not opposed to but I wish they would get more than 4th Line minutes (At least to see what they have at an NHL level)

Plus unless we get a ton of offense from Christensen/MZA, Callahan and Dubinsky have their Semi-breakout parties, and Avery/Drury dig in and have flashbacks of the players they were, we aren't contending for anything so I'm not sure what all the fuss is if we are icing a similar team.

Plus, why isn't Prospal in these lines. Not sure if I'm the only one but I wouldn't mind him back...

You know, he still could play the game. At a decent level. Most athletes would have milked as much $$$ as they can before they hang'em up. It's kind of a shame when great players like Naslund, come to NYC for a measly year or two. We've seen it happen so many times, it's quite disgusting... Bure? Lafontaine? Gretzky? Hell, even Jagr... (aside from his mvp season)..

I wonder if MZA would be a Ranger now if it wasn't for Naslund.

Dubinsky - Christiansen - Gaborik
UFA/MZA - Anisimov/Drury - UFA/Callahan/MZA

Already penciling this kid as a top-6 forward in the NHL? Seriously guys? That's a great way to set yourself up for a let-down.

MZA shouldn't be playing 15-18 min a night his rookie season. Especially against top-4 dmen. Callahan's our second line RW until someone proves they're the better hockey player.

Let's just hope this kid can win a spot in camp. That'll impress me.
