Maybe take Benzema (had a bad season with Real) over Govou, but I don't like Benzema for his bad attitude.

He was the one who discovered André-Pierre Gignac and he was their top goal scorer (along with Henry) in the qualifications. He's a warrior, just like Valbuena.

You could argue that Viera could've been picked, but I prefer Toulalan, Lassana Diara (injured ;() or even Diaby (who made a great play today for the Valbuena goal) over him.

Nasri could have been there, but he would've never played. Gourcuff is their general in the middle and plays all 90 minutes most of the time. He's still really young (like Benzema) and inexperienced.

Remember, it's not about making an all-star club. It's about forming a team.

Henry - Gignac

Gourcuff
Malouda - Ribery
Toulalan

Evra - Abidal - Gallas - Sagna

Lioris
I don't agree with you - I thought Nasri was an unbelievable omission, way more than Benzema.

- I don't think Malouda should be in your starting lineup, he's IMO a bad player and add nothing to the team.
- Ribéry already stated he wants to play on the left side, which explains why Govou (BTW, i know he's an experienced player on the squad, and that Domenech like him, but to me he shouldn't be on this team) was on the right at the start.
- While the left side (Evra-Ribéry) is world class, the right side suck pretty much. I never liked Sagna, and while I love OM, I don't think Valbuena is ready for starting duties. It leaves us with Govou/Anelka on the right side. Anelka prefers central-forward role, while Govou sucks.
- This 23 lacks wingers. I thought Jérémy Ménez or Hatem Ben Arfa should have been called.
- Domenech doesn't seems to like Serie A. Ménez, Frey, Mexès all omitted. This is garbage.

I'm hoping they play with higuain as a striker and Tevez and Messi behind him, that would be deadly.

Algeria need to build their soccer program with the interest generated from that world cup run!
It would be great if they become a perennial world cup participant.

Great point

After 1990, corruption and laziness have run the Algerian Soccer Federation

But for the last 2 years, the Federation, with a new President, has done a wonderful job
A lot of credit to the coach as well, who is the one who qualified us for 82 and 86

The youth Algerian team (10-12 y /o) won the Danone Cup in France 2 years ago, which is the kids World Cup

We also have the Paradou Academy, where kids learn to play soccer barefoot (like they do in Brazil)

So, so far, we are investing and preparing the future

I was hoping to see Canada in South Africa as well, since I live here; but maybe next time

I hope Canada will host the WC someday

Do you follow the Ligue 1?? Gignac score around 8 goals this season Henry will play in New York next season (it shows how bad he was in Barcelona), Abidal was more on the bench that on the field, Govou is a waste, he want to get out of Lyon but nobody want him. Domenech want so bad Gallas to be healthy because he knows how bad his deffense is. He pick Planus (who's a good d-man), but i think we won't ever see him play in South Africa. And for Benzema and Nasri, those two guys were arrogant and disrespectful, and show one of the main problem in french society right now. Domenech hate the little team. Lille is one of the best team in France fro about 5 years now, guys like Dumont, Debuchy weren't even in the 30 players, and guys like Pedretti, Mavuba, Gamero, Ruffier are such good players, but i don't even know if Domenech know their names.

Every team dives. Just look at Portugal and Brazil, they are masters at it. I could list other teams as well. In other words, it is an unfourtunate part of the sport.

I wouldn`t be surpised.

No Ballack
No Adler
No Frings
No Rolfes

Klose had 3 goals last season, Gomez 10.

Many young players, I`m not very optimistic.

There's a difference between international play and club. Sure, it's easier to look good when you play against Stoke City and Wigan every weekend. Malouda never been good with France.

Well for a strong underdog a 0-0 tie the other day against Cape Verde Islands with a pretty full lineup isn't going to get Portugal very far.Hope for you they play better, should be a great match against Brazil, wonder how many Portuguese will cheer for Brazil
