As a season ticket holder for the past 5 Habs seasons, this doesn't surprise me one bit.
In fact every year the prices increase...BUT I will say this. This year it has increased much more than previous years.
I have Greys. When I first started paying for them they were 2750$ for the pair. Last year they were about 3k even. This year it's over 3200$...I was actually surprised by the increase.
It's not a huge deal really. 100$ more a pair is nothing compared to the run we had this playoffs. I just wish that if he have a bad season they decrease the prices! But we know that won't happen, just look at the laffs!
imo they should just increase the prices in the reds and desjardins (usually all rich people anyways) and keep the status quo with the rest where its usually students and families.
I was listening to CKAC today and some guy said that he got a renewal notification for his white season ticket seat that went up from 5300$ to 6100$. They were not able to confirm it but that's what he said! That's 13% more.
Montreal always wants to be ahead of Toronto. They are tacking ticket prices now. hehe

It doesn't really matter if the price is 100$ and 20,000 people buy the tickets for the total of 2,000,000$ or if the price is 200$ and 10,000 people buy the tickets for the total of 2,000,000$.
As long as final ammount is 2,000,000$. So if people complain but place is soldout, nobody will care.
The smartest thing is to fix the price in order of the final ammount to be the highest.
The management of Habs is probably the luckiest team in NHL.
I don't really get it when people say that they won't be able to buy tickets anymore, with the 3-10% raise. I don't know your financial situation but still...you won't be able to buy blue tickets + 10%?!
Let's all be truthful - if given the ultimate economic choice none of us would want to pay a thing for anything but that's not reality. The micro economic reality is that as long as tickets are being sold on the secondary (call it scalper or ticket broker) markets for more than face value then there is obviously room to increase ticket prices. So, it's basically the ownership trying to recapture the economic gain that is being lost to those fortunate enough to be able to buy at face value because, clearly, by the thousands of tickets available online and on the street for any given game not everyone is using their tickets and trying to sell for a profit.
That said - I think there should be a test of hockey knowledge before getting into the building so that "true fans" get first crack at face value seats. Again..I know I'm dreaming and will be the first to admit to flying cross country 3 times this past year to see the team in person.

Would you believe, I see this question asked year after year, and no one ever seems to be able to come back with a number. It must be one of the most closely guarded secrets in the organization.

Right now, it's too easy for the habs to make money and screw fans... by using the good old supply and demand BS... just like oil price... right... the market's invisible hand, my ass...
