Not a terrible deal. Why has Horton missed ~20 games each of the past 2 season?

I'm a huge supporter of the idea of bringing Horton here, seeing as how he fits 2 of our most glaring needs as both a legit power forward and Center, but I think that price might be a tad high. Trading a guy who is our future capitan in Callahan for a guy whos has had a questionable attitude, along with a high 2nd rounder, I feel is too much. If FLA would do Bobby Sangs and the 40th however, I'd agree to that.

Sather wouldn't trade dubinsky or callahan for Heatley. Why in the world would he consider trading either of them for Horton?

it was dubinsky not callahan i believe. either way i'd do this deal love cally but he's going to max out at 50 points

florida wont touch this. callahan is a 2nd/3rd liner. horton is a 1st/2nd liner.

But Callahan hustles. That automatically makes him more valuable than half the players in the league.

Slats didnt trade Dubi or Cally for Heater cause it didnt make sense to take on that contract plus give up assets when he just went out and got Gaborik for exactly the same price. Horton is definitely an upgrade for Cally. Listen I know Cally's a great team guy and all, but I think now is the time to trade him and get some good value for him. A secondary scorer like Horton is just what we need on the 2nd line. Cally's a 3rd liner. He has a decent contract too, at 4 mil for 3 more yrs and he's only 25.

Give me a comparison that doesn't look terrible. Your trade proposals are not only over frequent but ridiculous in nature. Propose this to florida management and they hang up before you've finished the sentence.

A 1st line player with an injury history for a third line grinder and a second round selection. Thats what the deal is, thats what you're proposing. And its assanine.

comparing horton for cally and #40th overall to gaborik for clarkson and 2nd rounder is whats asinine.

Neither team touches this. Florida and the Rangers make awful trading partners.

While I know Horton, if brought here, would probably play center, its worth noting that he has played alot of wing for Florida as well. It could be interesting to see how Anisimov would do with a guy like that flanking him. We all saw how much more comfortable he was playing with a bruser like Shelley at his side, so putting a guy like Horton at his wing could give him that same confidence but also someone with good offensive skills to work with.

No thanks, and here's why.

Horton- underachiever with a history of injury and character flaws.

Callahan- future captain who gives 100% every shift, and who sets an amazing example. It's not always about the points.

But the poster who said neither team touches this is absolutely correct.

I totally agree with that, but I think Fla would want more than Cally and a 2nd. I proposed on the trade board Cally and Girardi for Horton, and most said it was an overpayment. What if they threw in a guy like Byron Bitz. Havent seen him enough, but he's a big body who I think would bring a nice edge here especially if Prust/Shelley want too much.

Completely agree. Word is Horton has work ethic issues, which is one of the reasons why he might be available. Don't think he'd be a good fit with Torts.

You don't trade Ryan Callahan. He's our Kris Draper.

Horton only has 3 years left on his contract before going UFA. That's definitely not bad but are we looking to compete for the cup in 3 years? If yes, it makes sense. If no, that seems like an unnecessary risk. Also, although he is listed as a center, he has played RW much of his NHL career. I'd like to address our 1st line center issues or at least 1st line LW issues if we are going to talk about trading Callahan and a 1st. That is a really strong package. I think we could get Loui Eriksson for that much. At least as a starting point. Though Dallas probably doesn't desire to trade him.
