If Lecavalier is available, would you trade for him?

Just curious, please give us your list of five to ten worst contracts in the league.

That's not a bad proposal at all.

Any way we can grab St-Louis?

Really?

Steve Downie had almost as many points as Gomez and was a +14 on a pretty bad team. We'd also move up like 20 spots in the draft.

I can't believe some people are still unaware that St-Louis totally LOATHES the Habs, he hates us, and that's why he plays best against us. He's a No-dicks fan. Let him be, I don't care about that smurf.

If you guys think Gomez has a bad contract...why do you want Vinny?

Bigger, meaner, better scorer, francophone, some incentive for St. Louis to sign with us, etc... You name it someone probably thinks about it.

No thanks. TB can drown with his cap hit, we don't need it.

Lecavalier has one of the absolute worst contracts in the NHL right now and is, without a doubt, the most overrated player in Montreal media. If such a trade were to happen, people would expect Lemieux in his prime and would be terribly disappointed. People have created a savior-like character named Vincent Lecavalier, and there happens to be a good NHL center named Vincent Lecavalier. But these are two seperate entities.

I do not want him on our team, and I think Tampa will have to swallow that cap hit for a long time. Even Dipietro's contract is only a 4.5M cap hit (Yashin's buyout next year is worse for that matter at 4,755M)... Lecavalier is signed for an eternity, with a high cap hit all along and is front-loaded with a ridiculous amount for the next 7 years if I'm not mistaken. What was the point of that contract?

I would have even loved him last year, I'll admit. but now I would really only take him in a trade which wouldn't make sense for Tampa, if they gave us a good return, so no, probably not.

Even though it won't happen anyway so it doesn't matter.

I'm a Canadiens fan but everytime I come to this board I know exactly why other teams hate our fans as well.

I'm tired of Lecavalier rumours too but... for those comparing Gomez or Plekanec to Lecavalier... Lecavalier has outscored both those guys in every one of the last four seasons and is way the hell bigger.

Gomez and Plekanec are 1000% better than Lecavalier defensively; in fact, Vinny is among the WORST players in the entire league defensively. In 07-08, Vinny had 40 goals and 92 points, great right? However, he went MINUS-17!!! He was on the ice for 96 ES goals against!!! In 08-09 he was -9 and had 67 ES goals against. In 09-10, he was -16 and AGAIN 67 ES goals against despite playing less minutes now. Even in 06-07, he completely wasted his 52 goal 108 point performance by being on the ice for 84ES goals against and going only +2. By contrast, Gomez was on the ice for 45, 48, 55 and 54 ES goals against these 4 years. He went an aggregate +4 with 202 ES GA. Plekanec went +21 with 182 ES GA. Meanwhile, Vinny went -40 with 314 ES goals against.

Hockey is 50% offence and 50% defence. Given their contracts, and given BOTH offensive and defensive results, I GREATLY prefer our existing top 2 centremen.

If need more size, let us get it on defence or on the wings before we break up our centremen.

That would actually be the worst time to acquire him. Because you are paying his monstrous cap hit when he is 39/40 years old.
