Don't the Rangers own the Wolfpack franchise? How are they planning on dumping it? Are they unhappy with the city?

I mean, it's one thing if you're just affiliated with the team and you're unhappy with how they're treating your prospects, but it's another if you own the team and completely control all of that ****. If the Rangers are unhappy with how the Pack are run, they only have themselves to blame. If they're unhappy with Hartford and the fan support, then obviously that's another issue

Jeez, you scared the **** outta me - I thought something bad had happened to Artie in the WCs. (Knock wood.) Quote the post that's caused you to express sympathy, dammit!

(Sorry that the Rangers may be dropping their HFD affiliation, Squish and Jarkko.)

The Rangers affiliated with a team called the Americans? Pops will turn over in his fecking grave.

Best overall prospect we have? Better than Stepan, Kreider, Grachev, McDonagh, or Sangs? What do you guys think?
Haha, Jess said that? Jess's posts should be banned on this board.

The guy is clueless. He's like a kid who looks things up on hockeydb and then posts them as fact. I'm sorry, but he makes one agitating post after another. It was so fun to watch him essentially lie about reporting from the prospect tournament last year (by making it sound like he was watching the games when he was just reporting other reportings).

Jess has probably seen Werek play once, if that. How people continue to believe he is good for anything useful is beyond me. He's the Eklund of Rangers prospects.

J5 -- HUGE RANGERS PROSPECT ANNOUNCEMENT COMING.

ZOMG CAN'T SAY IT RIGHT NOW ZOMG.

The way Wisco's team is shaping up for next year ("rebuilding"), is there any possibility that Stepan signs with the Rangers (if they offer him a contract) after first semester to play in the AHL? Or is he a more team first, not gonna bail on my teammates kind of guy?

Some may see his team being a bit worse as a bad thing but I see it as a way for him to grow as a player and become a "go-to" player. He was fortunate enough to play on a PP with a lot of very skilled players. Next year, he will have to carry the offense, I am interested to see how he does.

Anyone venture a guess on the odds of Bourque working out? He's got a good pedigree but is small.

He should have been on the team last year. If he doesnt make it this year, he should ask for a trade because he isn't going to get a shot here.

If someone made a thread about our most overrated Prospects, Dane Byers would be by and far #1.

Why do you say that? He would be a pretty solid 4th liner for real cheap. Instead, Sather had to sign Rissmiller and Voros(neither of which worked out).

yesterday (or today) was the last day to sign Doyle or Gaulton.
I'm guessing both were let go?

Hm, not surprising but I was hoping the Rangers would at least sign one of them to give them a chance in the AHL or the ECHL for a year or 2.

Not real sure where to ask this but does anyone know where I could find the U-20 WJC games from this past winter in their entirety? I want to re-watch them if possible.

Regarding Byers, what warranted him being a second round pick? I am just looking at numbers as I was only 14 at the time he was drafted, but in the two years before his draft year he put up 8-6-14 in 49 games and 9-8-17 in 51 games. How does that make you a second round pick? What am I missing?

Dane Byers, LW
Round 2, 48th overall
Prince Albert (WHL)

Byers played at the 2004 Top Prospects game and played for Canada at the U18 Championships in Belarus where he had one assist in seven games. He missed 21 regular season games with a broken finger, but in the 51 games he did play with Prince Albert, he scored 17 points and had 134 penalty minutes.

With his 6’2 frame still filling out, Byers has already become an aggressive power forward. When he is at his best he hustles and forechecks as well as anyone in the WHL. Not much for hands, most of the goals Byers gets will be from going to the net and banging in loose pucks. The knock on Byers is that he doesn’t show up every night and that he might lack motivation.

“What you see is what you get,” one NHL scout told Hockey’s Future before the draft. “He likes to run around and bang guys, start fights and get the team motivated but he’s just going to be a depth guy.”

“I saw him play a game against Lethbridge when the Hurricanes were trying to get into the playoffs and they were trying to stir the pot,” another scout said. “Byers, who is supposed to be this big tough kid, didn’t show up for any of it. I’ve heard some guys say he’s a big tough kid who is going to be a power guy but I haven’t seen it.”

Byers has attractive size and if a team believes they can work on his internal drive, the strong winger could do well. He will return to Prince Albert in 2004-05.

Whats the deal with Grachev?

Anyone think he could get called up next year mid season?

Its probably best for him to play another year for Hartford. At least he will be experienced now. His numbers should go up by alot, hopefully.

Hes the current one on 20 prospects in 20 days.

Can someone make a lineup of our current prospects, in order of their potential ceiling?

That way its easier to gauge who is better, where they are, etc.
