Not I! Upshall is a good fit for the coyotes and has played well before his injury.

We don't need another defenseman to try to sign. We have a tough choice on defense as it is.

How did I know this thread would be about Upshall?

Anyways, we don't need any more defensemen. Our weakness is lack of scoring from our forwards, and trading Upshall hurts us in that area.

No. Takes from an area of weakness to add to a log jammed mess of quality defensemen. Basically, the opposite of a deal we should make.

I don't even see where Upshall would fit with the Flyers...isn't that the reason they dealt him in the first place?

I'd do that deal. A sweetener would be nice but I'd do it straight up.

No. Coburn is a great player but another defensemen that we don't need. We need guys who will score key goals for us like Upshall did before his injury. This guy had 18 goals in 49 games guys, that means he was on pace for about 33-34 if he completed the season. He does well with our team, why trade that away for something that will log jam our defensive system even more?

I think what we do with Upshall is going to be directly influenced by what we do with Stempniak, I would be surprised (but definitely not unhappy) if they are both on the team next year. I don't know if Coburn's sometimes iffy play is worth giving up the consistent offense from Scottie but if Z leaves we are going to need some proven younger talent on our blue line. Hartnell is too much money that we currently don't have with the whole lack of an owner situation but his hair would look amazing under a Yotes helmet.

He has a spectacular playoff beard, is somewhat overpaid and is the type of player that is hated unless they are on your team. Depending on the cost I think Fartsmell could be a good fit

No, we will not give Upshall back to you.

Him for Carcillo was amazing.

Based on what Carcillo has brought to the team on their run to the finals, I'd guess there are many more Flyer's fans agreeing with that statement than did when the deal was made.

While I do see Upshall's appeal and upside, a horse like Coburn is well worth the price. He won't put up huge numbers but 25 year old top 4 d-men don't grow on trees.

If GMDM could work this deal, its a deal he should work.

In Don we Trust.

Trust Maloney to work some more magic to shore up the offence (sign Stempniak) while enjoying a D corps to dream about.

I don't understand why either team would do this--the Coyotes have an excellent defense, and the Flyers have more good forwards than they know what to do with. The Coyotes have problems scoring, but we never let in a ton of goals against. On the other hand, the Flyers have trouble deciding which forward to scratch because they're all good, yet they get stuck playing their bottom pairing defensemen 2 minutes a night. That's fine when you have 2 high quality pairings to pick up the slack, but what happens when you get rid of one?

Considering that he was lighting it up before he injured his knee (again) against Boston, this seems like particularly bad karma.

To be fair, it was amazing for both teams. Carcillo found his brains and Upshall found his heart.

No... Carcillo found a city and a coach willing to support his antics. He still has shown to pull a wtf every now and then.

...and we found an extra 2nd round pick!

But seriously, it's hard to envision Upshall without heart. The guy has been all heart for us.
