Josef Boumedienne

How has Josef been performing in Finland? And is he still a swedish citizen? I remember some article about him wanting to play for Finland...? Is he still developing? What part will he play on Capitals team next year do you think...if there is a next season in the NHL?
I kind of like this guy because he's doesn't seem to be so much of a pansy like almost all other swedish players. (Excluding Norström, Oduya, Fredrik Svensson and possibly Marcus Nilson. And Forsberg and Sundin...)

Maybe it's better you ask that on the finnish board?

BTW, he now has finnish citizenship.

No, not for you guys...

Do you have any stats on him from Finland?

And do you have any on Daniel Widing in Pelicans. Do you think he can develop into an NHL-player?

I agree asking this question in the Finnish section may result in some information about his recent play. Boumedienne has been playing for Karpat since sometime in November. I have not heard anything specific about him in awhile, but his stats from www.sm-liiga.fi show:

32 games
5 goals
10 assists
plus 6

Here is a link to Karpat's site:

Of course, he started the season with Brynas and seemed to perform well there. Based on an online conversation I had with a Finnish poster who was translating some articles for me, he has had dual citizenship since last September.

From what I recall of his bio, his mother is Finnish, his father is Algerian, and he was born in Sweden.

Correct, here he is attending a hockey game (Mälarhöjden vs. Linden) together with his dad Ramdhane.

he looks very finnish in that pic, like with Rami Shaaban(whose father is egyptian, he's born in sweden with a finnish mom) it seems the mother really leaves alot of resemblance for the son ^^

Thanks for putting the pic up, Kronblom. Does anyone have anymore info or pics of Boumedienne (other than NHL Capitals or Kärpät websites)? I'm thinking of maybe doing a cultural article about him but I can't find much info on him...
