Callahan

Would anyone here do a Callahan for Filatov swap one-for-one?

I am in a GM game and I was offered this trade and am torn. I really like Callahan but Filatov has a ton of skill. Thoughts?

If we were to rebuild, which we're not.

Its a good trade for us, just not at this juncture.

Boyes-Hudler-MZA
Drury-Anisimov-Callahan
Avery-Boyle-Prust
Shelley

Filatov has a lot of questions surrounding him, and Callahan is part of the face of the organization.

On the other hand, Filatov's potential is huge, he has amazing skill, is only 20, and will undoubtedly surpass Callahan one day.

I'd say pull the trigger, but I tend to like younger players.

You can squeeze something extra out of them. Callahan is a proven commodity. A hardworking 3rd line checking forward who can net you around 20 goals and come close to 50 pts.

I love Cally and his hustle, but I would take that deal and run.

yep another player who decides to go back to europe because he doesnt want to go to the minors, i dont care how much talent Filatov has. if he doesnt wanna go to the AHL well ur not a team player dont want any of them to be a ranger..

id keep callahan.

lets deal one of the few players who works hard on the ice at both ends and doesnt float......

Eh, it's an ok deal theoretically, but Filatov is too much of an unknown quantity to give up on a guy who wears a letter, makes chicken scratch and still brings you 45 points with great defensive play and hustle.

I am just wondering, considering the Rangers wouldnt be winning the cup in the next few years, would Filatov be better than Callahan in 3 years? Its a move for the future.

Filatov is undoubtedly skilled, but not usually appearing to be half as driven as we love Callahan for (but how many guys really are?).

Callahan, even during his poor games, at least brings in the physical element that most don't usually show.
I would've done say Zherdev for Filatov, but not Callahan.
Two different parts of the game Fil and Cal bring, and the Philly games still say we can't diminish our physical game any further than it already is.

If even we forget the moral side, we NEED Cally.
Filatov for someone else maybe?

LOL at everybody totally ignoring that Filatov played for the worst coach in the history of the NHL when it comes to dealing with young players. Hitchcock is even worse than Muckler.

I love Callahan but Filatov is a possible franchise player.

Callahan-types can be acquired via free agency or the 3rd round. Filatov-types cannot.

I make this trade 100 times out of 100.

is this a fantasy game? what is the metric for success in your game?

on paper, we are getting the better skilled player and 1st line scoring potential. I would make this trade.

Its just a GM game. Put together a mock offseason for your team(I am the Rangers). Just for fun, no points system.

Is this a joke? Filatov without hesitation, and it's not even close IMO.

I like the team more than the players individually, so I would do it.

As long as you know Filatov is coming back to the NHL if he's a New York Ranger, I take that deal and run. And I'm in the camp that didn't want Callahan a part of a deal for Heatley.

If we're guaranteed that Filatov comes over, I'd make this deal.
