Tonight At 8 PM I interview James Patrick

Former Ranger and current Buffalo Sabre assistant coach James Patrick will be joining me in what promises to be a real great interview and we will be taking calls for James during the show.

So if you want to ask him something past or present call in or leave it in this thread. I will ask him.

I have talked to James a couple times this season and he told me a great story that's indicative of how much the Rangers are still very much in his heart.

On the last day of the season when the Rangers lost in the shootout this year, the Sabres were in between periods of their game that same day.

James was told by coach Lindy Ruff to address the Sabres players in the Lockeroom.

He was walking down the corridor when he saw the Rangers/ Flyers game on TV during the shootout.

He got so caught up in rooting for the Rangers against the Flyers (he hates the flyers) in the shootout he was late addressing the Sabres players.

terrific guy and still cherishes his time as a Ranger

Maybe we can coax him into pushing for a trade of Tyler Myers to NYR lol

A big James Patrick fan here. Can you ask him

"was the hometown crowd in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan the best he ever experienced?"

.

Considering that James Patrick was never the most physical player at any moment on the ice, ask him what it felt like when he laid out Patty LaFontaine in the PO's in 1990 that unfortunately started Patty's demise due to concussions.

It was a thunderous open ice (clean) hit.

I'd like to get his thoughts on that specific play.

Does he still have his Mike Keenan voodoo doll and does he still stick needles in the eyes? Keenan always picked a player to trade or banish when he joined that team. Jeep was that player.

When Messier takes over, maybe there will be a spot for Jeep with the Rangers.

I remember Keenan keeping him out of the Canada cup by benching him and then casting him off from NYR in 1994.

A three way trade where we got Steve Larmer.

Knowing Patrick he is on par with Adam Graves as far as sainthood. He wont say anything bad about anyone. I will give it my best shot. lol

Mouth - I am a huge fan of you and Jim but can never listen live. (Always listen Thursdays on the podcast). Anyway, pld459666 and RangerBoy covered the questions. I am really curious on his feelings of being traded away in 94. If you have time, I would love his opinion on 1991-92 with Messier arriving. Jeep was one of the players to experience the Rangers pre Messier and was on the 91-92 roster when he arrived. I certainly would love to know his mindset when Messier came in and essentially took over the locker room. How did he feel as a veteran? Jeeps thoughts on Roger Nielson and a young Adam Graves? (If you can. You and Jim always ask the good questions! LOL!)

Thanks Mouth. You guys are great!

Just some hi-Lites of the Interview

Likes MDZ but I thought he would be more jazzed about him.

The guy he is really is jazzed about is Staal said he is one of the best d-men in the game both ways.

Really doesn't know why Keenan didn't like him. he told a great story from the pre-season of 1994 and about their relationship.

Michel Bergeron pre-Game meetings were all the same. also called Milo Horava "Bergeron's whipping boy"

He said when he hit Lafontaine was "like a Knife Through Butter"

He said when Messier arrived the first time when he left the room or bus for the first time Leetch said " I can't believe we are on the same team with Mark Messier"

Loved Roger Neilson broke it down like no other coach and was easy going.

Told some great Fotiu stories.

Said Prince Albert arena held 3,200 but the place rocked and loved it.

Reijo Ruotsalainen is the Most fluid/effortless skater he has ever seen.

He spent almost two hours with us NO commercials, and he wants to come back. I didn't get a chance to ask him a lot of questions
