I'd take Buff off the top line... the whole point was to eliminate Pronger but not only has Pronger neutralized Buff... but that entire line.
After three games we can't continue to say...leave it until the get things going.
You just don't have time to do that in the playoffs.
Let Buff roam wild on some of the other defensive pairs and pound the crap out of them considering they are already decimated.
In theory taking Buff off the top line seems smart. Get him away from Pronger (at least some of the time) and all. But who do we throw on the first line with Toews and Kane? I'm gonna say no to Brouwer, because he's probably the one forward we have on the roster that's a bigger defensive liability than Kane is. It's just too risky to throw Kane and Brouwer on the same line against these Flyers IMO.
Now where it might work is if they really shuffle up these lines. Something like:
You know, I've been thinking about this tonight, and I've changed my mind.
Byfuglien/Toews/Kane (Keep Buff on the top line...Keep Pronger zoned in to that line so that he'll "forget" the other lines that have been able to contribute in this series so far)
Kopecky/Sharp/Hossa (Kopecky and Hossa have some real chemistry, and Kopecky looks better right now than Brouwer)
Ladd/Bolland/Versteeg (a no-brainer)
Brouwer/Madden/Eager (a TRUE checking line)
