The fact that it is the Lakers v. Celtics will force me to watch it. I am a child of the 80's and I have been to more Laker games with family than I could count. In the past 15 or so years, I have completely lost interest in the game, mostly because the game has gone to ****.
I can't speak for the 80's but I do know that as much as I love you, you failed to hit any of my points except Santana. Frank has done absolutely nothing for the Dodgers except destroy everything it ever stood for. He fired long time respected baseball men and replaced them with nobody. If you can tell me one thing he has done that has helped this team get where they are or even for the future then I will humbly concede.
In regards to Santana, there is no justification for trading him. They sold him for 2.5 million dollars. Logan White signing off on the trade means nothing since the trading of Santana was not a baseball move. In regards to him not seeing the MLB field all you have to know is that he's a 23 year old converted catcher playing in an orginazation loaded with great catchers. Catchers don't start in the majors before age 23, let alone a converted player. Can he play defense? Probably no worse than Martin who according to baseball prospectus calls the worst game in baseball, has way more passed balls than average and can't throw out a runner to save his life.
1 thing? he hired Ned who traded Bradley for Ethier!
After a quarter and a half I can't believe how bad the refs are calling this game. The fouls are retarded. Paul Pierce should get an award for selling some of these fouls. And two fouls against Rondo nobody even looked at the guy.
fixed it just annoys me even tho I hate basketball

That's a short list compared to the things Ned has done to handicap this team. In his respect, Ned hasn't traded away the young guys that are our offensive core.
We look pretty good out there tonight. My first Laker memories were watching Magic run down against the court against the Magic in Orlando's first or second season and then getting too excited watching the Lakers and Sonics back in 93, only to trip my brother and bust his lip bad enough that he had to go to the hospital.
For as much as many here hate the Lakers, I could only wish the Kings were 1/14th as good as them. At least they'd have one stanley cup then. Can't wait for the world cup, go Germany!

True, and again I don't think McCourt is anywhere near perfect.
I still think you are forgetting how bad the Fox years and the Pink Shirted Dan Evans were and either weren't a fan or forgot what 1989-1997 were with Fred Claire runnign things.
chris rock looks like he's having a conversation...camera pans and he's talking to Kobe only Kobe has this total blank stare
Hilarious! I was cracking up when I saw it live. Even better that it was Chris Rock because the dude drives me crazy.
Great game both sides of the court tonight for the Lakers. I think losing to the Celtics two years ago taught them a huge lesson. They're ready to play hard and come out for the full 4 quarters. Nice to see Artest have a decent game as well. I dislike the dude, but at least he didn't try anything dumb last night.
That is such an astounding stat!!! I wouldn't be at all surprised if we swept the celts.
... If the Lakers continue to dominate the boards, I don't see Boston winning a game in this series. Boston had ZERO second-chance points last night, if I recall correctly. Despite scoring 30, Kobe didn't have a great shooting game. The Lakers committed more turnovers and more fouls than Boston did. Yet, with all that, L.A. won easily and never at one point in the game seemed in danger.
The combination of Gasol and Bryant, helped out by Bynum, Artest, and Odom, is too strong for the Celtics to match. All five of those guys have size, they can score, they can rebound, they can defend, and they can run the floor. They outscore everyone else in the paint, and they outscore them on the break. No other team has that quantity of complete players to bring to the court.

I'm only 28 so I didn't really have a full grasp of things until the early 90's. I didn't think Fox was either good or bad. They made some silly decisions when it came down to Kevin Brown and Dreifort but they didn't really do anything that made me dislike them. They spent more money than anyone on international prospects.
I didn't have any problem with Dan Evans. He put the team in a great position to succeed and they went out every year and picked up the pieces to compete come playoff time but the bullpen was such a disaster there was so many injuries come playoff time they were snakebitten. And let's not forget Jeckyle and Hyde Odalis Perez imploding us in the playoffs.

Fox bought the team to try to show up and slap around Turner when He owned the Braves.
The Fox people traded Piazza. Claire even admitted to as much at the time and will still admit it to this day.
The Fox people pretty much also told Mike Scioscia to go F himself and He went to the Angels.
I agree about Evans for the most part. He did very well considering the restraints He was given.
