Unsportsmanlike Conduct

What did Hartnell do in the third period of Game 4 of the SCF to get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to give the Blackhawks a 5 on 3 powerplay that lead to a goal? I was watching the game on CBC and I can't remember them saying what happened or showing a replay of the incident, maybe they did and I wasn't looking but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Hartnell has been playing pretty focused and controlled hockey, I'd be surprised if he did something stupid to get a penalty like that at a time like that, but then again he does carry a reputation. I felt bad for him when he got called for that love tap, I mean cross checking penalty earlier in the game. I hate sounding like someone who complains about calls because that's not my style but that was the worst call I have seen this series - I'm sure Blackhawks would bring up something Pronger did though.

He slammed his stick into the boards after both teams were warned not to. It sounds stupid, but it is what it is.

It was Coburn's penalty that gave 'em the 5-on-3.

Sounds like a tough call to make in the third period of game 4 but if they were warned it makes sense, oh well. We got the win.

Yeah I didn't mean to imply he gave them the 5 on 3 with that penalty but was one half of the men in the box to give them it. My bad.

yeah cheering on your teammates is conduct detrimental to the game. somebody did something to tick the ref off so we got the call. well never understand every call and non call at tis point just roll with it. so long as toronto doesnt screw us im not worried about anything.

Wait, was he doing it from the bench or on the ice?

I cannot understand why the official cares enough that someone hit their stick against the boards to call that a penalty in a stanley cup final game. Completely ridiculous

I think this is ridiculous. But the players were warned so its Hartnells fault. But could you imagine losing a Stanley cup finals game for banging your stick on the glass or wherever?

Obviously not the same, but brings back memories of Marty McSorley's illegal stick in the 1993 Finals.
