Initially he wasn't even projected to be taken in the first round by most people. I would say that Pitts could definetly move up to take him or he might even still be available.

IMO people are overating him based on his goal totals, from what I've seen and heard, he isn't a very good skater which could make it hard for him to produce at the NHL level.

Depends where he's going to get picked. If it's say 15th then Yes they'd have a decent chance but any higher than that it would become difficult.

I like more what I hear about Watson and in my entirely novice opinion would rather have them trade up for him.

I like what I've heard about him to and he's a safer pick than Skinner.

Watson is a more complete player, but a team could hit a home run with Skinner.

It's such a wacky draft this year, teams could get players they would place in their own top 10 later in the draft, simply because teams will have a lot to choose from, and will likely draft based on their needs, rather then the best player avaialble.

I mean, Tyler Toffoli was in the top 20 a month ago, now he appears to have dissappeared from the first round.

I don't think Skinner is a very safe pick in the first half of the first round.

Skinner is probably worth a look pretty high in the draft. It's not entirely impossible that he's gone at 8 or 10 believe or not. He could slip due to skating issues and his lackluster attention to defensive play. I can't configure a scenario where he's available at 20, nor 15 though.

Austin Watson is someone worth a look. Very hard nosed kid, high attention to detail defensively. Safe pick. It depends on what Shero wants to do - try to hit a homer (Skinner, Kabanov, etc.) or play it safe (Watson).

Its tough to figure it out with him because some people have him in the top 10 and others have him very late in the first round. It will be difficult to figure out how high they would have to trade up to get him.

Skinner just scores goals,

really? from what I've read Watson's Size, Skating and two-way ability make him much safter pick.

I like Skinner a lot. If a team can break his skating down and build him back up, he has the complete package to be a goal scoring machine. That being said, I think a really good hockey player will be at 20 for the Pens to pick.

Not crazy about Skinner. He can really finish, but his skating needs a lot of work and he isn't that big either. He really doesn't seem to fit what Shero usually drafts and that's forwards with size. He basically ignores guys like Skinner that are under 6'0 tall.

I think Nick Bjugstad will be the pick if he's still there. One of the Pens better scouts is Chuck Grillo. He lives and scouts the Minnesota area, so I'm sure the Pens are very familiar with Bjugstad. Bjugstad also has a lot of the qualities of Shero's past picks. He has the size Shero likes since he's 6'5, he comes from a hockey family. He's an American too and Shero will definitely like that.

Jeff Skinner is quickly becoming the favorite player in this draft for many people on this site. Some calling him the most sure fire prospect after the 'big-5'...

I have read multiply reports / mock drafts that have him going in the second round. This could be one of those cases where he doesn't have NHL level talent and his scoring touch just doesn't translate to the NHL.

I haven't really heard many knocks on Bjugstad's skating ability either.

Give me Kabanov. I'd love to see that Russian next to Crosby.

Kabanov-Crosby
Tangradi-Malkin
Kunitz-Staal Would be nice....

Would we turn our noses up at Eberle if we had a chance to draft him?

That said, I think you're right about our scouts' inclinations.

There is no way he slips out of the 1st Round, his goalscoring ability is far too good for that to happen.
