Feel bad for Vancouver... but I'm really happy that we dodged the bullet with Boucher. I don't expect it to be the only offer he's going to get...

Good luck to Arniel.

Good for Arniel, he deserved a shot. He's a good coach. Could do well in Columbus.

Time to scour the CHL ranks for a new Moose coach. No big deal, AHL is a development league for players and coaches alike. Good to see Arniel get a chance, there are lots of coaches waiting in the wings.

The CBJ wasted no time after being turned down by Boucher, which is good.

Wasn't Arniel considered for Edmonton last year?? What happened with the Oilers that he didn't get the job?

Noooooooooooo.......It's great for Arniel, but bad for the Canucks. I wanted Alain Vignault fired and replaced by Arniel.

Early in the season I wanted Arniel (or one of a few others) to replace Maurice here in Carolina. This could be a great hire for the Jackets and is definitely a few steps ahead of the antiquated techniques and system of Hitch.

They didn't want to wait for him to finish his playoff run.

You mean Randy Carlyle.

Manitoba Moose sure had some good coaches, Carlyle, Vigneault, and now Arniel.

Don't the Canucks get compensation since Arniel was under contract with the Canucks for another two (confirm anyone?) years?

We can send Mike Commodore to Manitoba if that'll help.

No, it is no longer permitted by the NHL. That was changed a few years back.

Once a club gives permission to speak to a coach under contract that is the extent of it. Permission (or a clause in the coach's contract allowing him to pursue other jobs) is required to get around the tampering by-law which applies to coaches, GMs and scouts under contract to a member club (including minor league affiliates).

In the past the Canucks paid for a second round pick to sign Marc Crawford and when Carlyle was signed by the Ducks from Manitoba it cost Anaheim a third (conditional second) round draft pick going to Vancouver. Those days are over.

Atlanta interviewed him as well and it seems he wasn't going to wait around in hope for a Thrasher offer.

Atlanta job is probably down to two: Torchetti or Ramsay.

Hopefully he can re-energize the youngsters. They broke my heart this past season.

Is it bad that I've never heard of those two before?

Yes. If they win the cup next year they have to send us Rick Nash.

I enjoyed seeing him as our coach, amazing coach, especially to Cory Schneider, made underdogs good such as Desbien, Rosa, Jaffray, Moran, Edler, Hansen and Such. Also lead the Moose to the Calder Cup finals last year. But great fit for Columbus, sad to see him go but good for him.

I know Thomas Steen wanted to be head coach of the Moose, that was a rumor I heard, other than that I don't know who will replace him.
