The only reason he would be the odd man out is because he is the only one without a No Trade. Plus the Flyers seem unwilling to move Giroux or JVR.

I'd take Carter for sure, Spezza, not so much.

They already have big money tied up at forward and guys like Giroux, Leino, JVR, Coburn will need raises, plus they need a #1 goalie. Giroux and Briere are natural centers.

What he said... Richards and Briere already give them a heck of a good 1-2 punch at center and with or without Carter, they have size up front.

I'm trying to figure out what the heck has Carey Price done in the past for us to refuse a 6'3 right handed 40 goal center?

They didn't want to give us a 2nd rounder now you want them to give us Carter?Doubt that happens,Philly is really close to a stanley cup and have a great team with many young players,I know they need a goalie but they should go the UFA route to get one

Sorry but if Philly is convinced that Leighton and Boucher are their 1a and 1b goalies then they are living in technicolor and they can try their luck and see how terrible those goalies actually are.

Fact is Halak is a great starting goalie, and Price is a starting goalie with franchise upside, if they want Price they better be prepared to dish out a package, if they want Halak they better be prepared to sacrifice one of their best top 6 forwards considering Halak was one of if not our best player in the playoffs.

While I won't say either goalie is good, the fact is they are still playing and two games removed from a stanley cup. I just don't see them shelling out for a goalie when two below average tenders have got them to where they are.

Something like Backes Berglund and Perron for Price Andrei and Sergei
No way you'd get the three offensive pillars of the St. Louis Blues for that package.

But they did make it this far and are so close to a cup, same was said about Niemi.Bottom line is as much as they need a goalie they shouldn't trade a top 6 player to get one,I wouldn't if I was GM of the Flyers, get one off FA

If Price goes to Philly it will be Leclaire trade all over again. If Price plays the way he can, he'll make PG look like a complete doosh (*sic) and PG is too smart a guy to let that happen. So unless they take Halak and Kostys as an example, I don't see what Montreal can send over to get Carter.

I would not trade Price to anyone and NEVER to any team in the east.

I would love Carter:

To Philadelphia:

Jaroslav Halak + 3rd round draft pick in 2011

To Montreal:

Jeff Carter

Price for Carter 1 on 1 is not enough from Phillys point of view

That's what I don't understand either, they refused to give us a 2nd rounder for Halak(rumors) and now we want a 40 goal scorer in return.Ain't gonna happen and for a team that doesn't have a goalie he did shut us out 3 of 5 games! Move on people Flyers ain't trading Carter for 1 of our goalies

Not only that if they really want 1 they can sign one instead of trading away a 40 goal scorer.

change the 3rd for a 2nd and it's a done deal.

On the contrary, if they don't win they'll feel that they missed an opportunity. Niemi hasn't played well, this series was there for the taking if their goaltending was better than Chicago's.

And unless this series changes dramatically they won't have a cup the last 36 years, I think at some point they'll start considering an upgrade in nets. I think Holmgren was one of the GM's that had most talks to the Habs about a goalie so I don't think his philiosophy is to build a strong team and not care about goaltending.
